Re: Three 6' JDM Destroyers walk into a bar.....

I don't know if this will help but here is my personal experience. Very helpful, thanks! I have a pair of the loomis MagL/XF spinning rods and agree that they are ideal for the uses I am wanting in a BFS rod. I also agree that they are not great with smaller trebles, but I often swap to slightly th...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Well who wants a $700 Steez? Just saying. ......and in true TT fashion, we will still buy them. I got into this stuff recently when the Yen was nice and weak, buying Pixies for $100 is all I have ever known. I don't know if I can stand a big bump up. So I guess I gotta stock up while I can.... :D

Re: Three 6' JDM Destroyers walk into a bar.....

The hunt will continue, I just wish there was a reasonable way to get my hands on any >$100 rod before I buy it. The little taper charts for the Elese and Criffhanger look close enough that I feel like it could be a tossup.

I got fooled by the Keitech MadWag Mini 2.5" too. They work well on a dropshot if you want to catch big panfish.

Re: Finesse jig and light texas rig rod for 3/16 - 1/2oz

I fished a FMJ/mbr783 glx combo last season and they complement each other very well. I threw 1/4oz jigs on the 783 and 1/2oz jigs on the FMJ. I was pleased to see that a lot of the plastics I like to throw work well on both rods so I could pick one over the other just based on cover. I recently tra...

"Yes the CR721 is softer than the F2-60X Criffhanger. Go to YouTube and type in Megabass Movie The Bait Finesse and you can see Yuki Ito using the F2-60X." Yes sir from that thread that was the sentence I remembered. I found thet video, it looks like it was recored on a cellphone from 200...

Re: Three 6' JDM Destroyers walk into a bar.....

I have recently got the MB X7 F2-63 Super Criffhanger. While I realize that there are differences within the MB line for rods w/similar names, the MB X7 does have a medium fast taper, similar to the Destroyer listed above. I've used it a few times, with small jigs (1/8) and drop shotting. The rod i...

Re: Three 6' JDM Destroyers walk into a bar.....

I'm sorry that probably nothing I typed helps but it's the same road I've been traveling for a few months. Best of luck with your purchase. Actually that was extremely helpful! I was really interested in the Elese and it's good to hear I'm not alone. Most of the smallmouths I am catching are far fa...

Re: Three 6' JDM Destroyers walk into a bar.....

Found some little charts that show the action of each, the Criffhanger and STC look really close and honestly the Elese isn't too far off. http://www.megabass.co.jp/site/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/destroyer_ch_model_sp11.png http://www.megabass.co.jp/site/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/destroyer_ch_mode...

Re: Mail Call

Also ordered a LSD Designs bag off Ichiban for wading and shore fishing. Pretty impressed with the construction quality and features, this will probably go with me in the boat as well. I have been looking at one of their tiny slings to use as a manpurse when flying, it would amuse me to have a bag ...

Three 6' JDM Destroyers walk into a bar.....

And the bartender says "Man, I coulda bought thirty Ugly Sticks for what you guys cost!" This next season I am going to re-devote myself to finesse fishing and I am looking to pick a somewhat specific BFS rod. Right now my main finesse casting rod is an XXX Black Themis. It is a wond...

Re: JDM JIGS..

The Lucky Craft Skip Jigs are pretty neat, the 1/16 size uses some kind of resin for the head so it’s a “normal” size finesse jig but will have a slow horizontal fall if you use a heavy trailer.

Re: ZPI Reel?

I don’t see how they could have not used a pre-existing reel, the expense of tooling up to produce a 100% original reel must be astronomical. I just wish they had done something cooler like buying the old TDZ tooling from Daiwa.

Re: 2018 Corto 6’ 10” first trip.

Thanks for looking into it. This forum has me about convinced that an ajing rod is the answer to my UL jig needs but I am loathe to spend much on an rod with a down-locking seat if I can’t get my mits on it first. I think I need to find an budget ajing rod with that style seat and give it a try. Tro...

Re: 2018 Corto 6’ 10” first trip.

For those of ypu who have this rod, how comfortable do you find the reel seat? I hold a spinning rod with all my fingers infront of the reel stem and downlocking reel seats are usualy really uncomfortable, but it seems like most of the highend UL rods have them.
