Re: Not Afraid of Contact - The Jackall Chubble Minnow Shaped Squarebill

I have been using the Chubble for a year or so now, it’s one of the few cranks I do use. I got into them to fish over the top of the hydrilla fields that a lot of my local ponds fill up with in the summer. They work excellently for that, the 2-3’ running depth is usually perfect for just skimming th...

The unique 32mm spool bummed me out.
This is what has kept me from picking up any of the newer Daiwa reels, I have so many 34/33/Pixy spools that it's hard to go outside those ecosystems.

Re: Evergreen International Defines "IT" Again : The Orion OCSC-71H+ Black Rose

Sounds like a high end version of the Megabass Hyuga 72H. I LOVE that stick. I will be sad as hell when my Hyuga 72H dies, but oh man it is going to be so much fun trying to find a rod to replace it. It was my gateway drug into "non-USDM" power/taper combos and was at the perfect pricepoi...

Hey, I think there is an error in the link going to the second page, for me it leads to this old review:

Re: Shimano and G.Loomis Launch Limited Edition Bantam MGL & IMX-Pro Combos

I was one click away from ordering one from ALF, but didn’t do it. If it was an MBR rod I would have but I am very well covered for bottom contact rods.

It’s a hell of a deal and I hope Loomis does more of them. I would jump all over limited editions of some of the discontinued CR and MBR rods.

I know an Ci4 FA spool will work on an FJ reel in the 1000 size.

Re: Coverage of ICAST 2019

Do you know what models the two CR rods will be?

My kayak arsenal is almost 100% old model CR, MBR, and SJR rods but there are some gaps in my collection that could be cool to fill with one if the new ones.

Still waiting for them to make one with a slit by the chin to pop a beard through. Even at "1/2 Hillbilly" levels it gets way too hot to have it mashed in there up against my chin and neck.

Re: Small but Mighty, the Deadly Megabass Dark Sleeper

I wonder if the weight of the lure is what’s causing the different experiences in terms of snagging? I have only used the 1/2 and 3/4 ones, maybe the heavier weight lets the plastic weed guard collapse when the lure bumps through wood in a way that the lighter weights do not? As it looks like the he...

Re: Small but Mighty, the Deadly Megabass Dark Sleeper

Yeah it is interesting how wood seems to get these guys more than anything else. Sometimes if there is literally one stick-up I'll still manage to find it. Also hear you about stock. These baits are definitely no secret and some of the colors sell out pretty fast once etailers/retailers get them. T...

Re: Small but Mighty, the Deadly Megabass Dark Sleeper

I am glad I am not the only one who looses them to underwater wood, I can't figure out why they seem to snag so often. I really like the 1/2oz ones for fishing weedy and muck-bottomed ponds, they seem to pick up very little debris when fished on the bottom and they come through weeds very well. I do...

Re: Stradic CI4+ Reel Stems

Is the reel stem on the 1000 just as long as the 2500? I have big hands and in the past some 1000 series reels have busted my knuckles due to short reel stems. I have both reels and will measure tonight for you. If I dont post by tomorrow morning PM me a reminder. In my memory it is a good bit long...

Re: The Yeti Panga 28 Backpack - A Waterproof Fortress for all Your Outdoor Gear

Good waterproof zippers are like that, you have to lube them for them to open with any ease. When I first bought a drysuit for kayaking I didn't know this and was "trapped" in my new suit for maybe 30min until I laid on the floor and managed to get enough leverage on the zipper to escape. ...
