Re: Ultralight Spinning Reel for Wading

I have been using a 1000 Ci4+ for wet wading for like 2-3 years now and it is still going strong after many dunkings and a few falls onto sandbars. I have an 1000 FJ that is older and has seen more use and abuse including a lot of brackish use. This winter I might send it in for a deep clean and tun...

Re: **Random thoughts on Megabass**

Yea, I would be hard pressed not to buy something like that.

Real question is, what power/taper would suit each monster?

Re: Uncharted Foreign Waters - what lures?

Echoing the “spinners, spoons, and grubs”.

I would also add some 3” stickbaits. I use them a lot t-rigged on a #1 EWG hook when fishing snaggy rivers and ponds.

You'll be sorry if you don't
What do you find the Spicy does better then the Menace? The Menace is easily one of my top 5 plastics and has replaced most other small craw/paddletail plastics for me.

Anyone found a pic of them side by side? I am very devoted to the Menace but am willing to branch out.

Re: Anyone use the Bone Combat Beast or Black River rods?

I don't get on TT as often as I use to , But I will give you what I know about the rods as the Bone rods are pretty much all I use, The combat beast rods are quite a fast tip and require a different casting style. I actually have both the black river and Combat beast travel rods the 664RXH and the ...

Re: Keitech Shad Impact

I used to use them like crazy rigged on the tiny Keitech football shakyhead jigs. Great for fishing in current and they hold up pretty well with the plastic screw keeper.

Re: SV Spool Inductor

There must be some variation in the consistency of the braking profile from reel to reel with these earlier SV spool reels. I have a pair of sv105's and while I would not call them "wild", they are the most free-casting/least controlled of the 5-6 sv-spooled reels I have owned. I use mine on a pair...

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?

I have started my spoon adventures with the Daiwa Crusader 4g spoons. Other than not being a huge fan of the hooks they come with, I have nothing but good things to say about them. They (obviously) cast like a rocket and have a nice wobble at a pretty good range of retrieve speeds. The issues I’m ha...

Re: Anyone use the Bone Combat Beast or Black River rods?

I had recommended this rod a while back to someone looking for a short rod, can't remember the situation. Anyhoo..that entire lineup employs 2-peice via a grip joint, even the 6'3! Cool looking rod. [/quote] It’s good to know someone else has at least heard of it. I found a few for sale but with shi...

Re: Anyone use the Bone Combat Beast or Black River rods?

My work picked up again and I have yet to reach out to the US supplier, it’s on my list for this week. I have also found an older Daiwa rod that might work. It’s from the old Black Label Line, the LG 631 MHF-FR. Daiwa Japan has this to say about it: LG 631 MHF-FR The LG 631MHFB-FR is a short-length ...

Thanks for all the info guys, keep it comming!

I have a lot more stuff to look into now but it's nice to see that my general idea isn't too far off base.

Re: Anyone use the Bone Combat Beast or Black River rods?

To me, majority of this brand’s offerings were way too stiff. That’s my biggest concern with them, is that they’ll be too stiff to cast and work a frog. That’s what got me looking at their Black River line, as it’s described as having a softer tip for throwing lighter lures, which sounds like what ...

Re: Circle or Octopus Hooks and BFS

I am trying to use small circle hooks to wacky rig 3-4" trout worms. The idea is to have a downstream drifting option in addition to the upstream/quartering spoons and spinners. I wade a lot of spots with substantial numbers of logjams and drifting spoons under them is an expensive game. Still tryin...
