Re: NRX 854

My MH LE is a bit too soft I've not fished this model LE but when I hear someone say this, I think stout hook set. This leads me to the NRX 873 or 894. From the reviews of the 854, not clear to me it would be stout enough in your hand. 10 other guys might say your LE is just fine with the lures you...

Re: G Loomis nrx

893, imo best senko rod on the market. I like a stiffer rod for 3/8oz jigs, but most people are happy with the 893 for 3/8 jigs. The 893 is my go to senko rod, light texas rig rod and shakyhead rod. If I would have 2 nrx rods the same, it'd be the 893 I agree with this. I fish my 893 with a Senko o...

Re: Advice for a new rod

Power wise, the NRX 873 is in between. Closer to the 894 then 893 in tip action as I recall (only fished it for about 10 minutes).

Re: NRX 854

based on lure ranges you are correct, 893 is fine. It is where you are throwing the rig and ones expectation of power on the hook set might make one want more. The 893 is not a pitching to cover rod but is fine in open water. a super simple rule. If 12# FC will work, then the 893 is likely a good op...

Re: Advice for a new rod

The H3 reco I like but not sure which one. I got a HE3 7'3H to go with my NRX 893 and 894's. Bit more versatile then the 894 but of similar power. I do fish Senko's on it around grass along with small swim baits, spinnerbaits around grass and frogs.

Re: NRX 854

You may have talked me into an 895. Looking for something 5/16-3/8oz t-rigs, 3/8oz jigs and occasional 1/2oz jig No, you want an 894. 895 is very tip heavy and does not have many fans because of it. 894 is optimal for most guys around 1/2oz; some will comment 3/4oz. I was only sharing that the 894 ...

Re: NRX 854

I would think the 854 has the potential to feel less powerful. The 873 or 894 would make you happy. Forget the length. I fished the MBR 844 and 894 side by side for a week with plastics and then sold my 844's off. The 844 just did nothing plastic wise as well as the 894 and the length was a non-fact...

Re: NRX 854

I can't speak to theses two rods but lets take the NRX 894 and maybe the loomis MBR 844. Both 4 powered rods but the lure rating higher on the MBR. I think it is just a matter of action and rod loading optimization on the slightly slower action MBR844. I see the same thing in 2 Powell rods I own. Mi...

Re: Best Jig Rod for $200

Kistler HE3 should get a look. sensitivity and action wise competes with any rod I've fished at any price. ascetically may or may not suite.

Re: 7.1 or 7.3 ft rod for hollow bodied frogs

Length does not matter much in the range you note. Balancing tip action required for good walking vs power needed in some vegetated applications the much bigger deal. MH powered rods often have tips better suited for walking the frog whereas most of these are underpowered in grass, matted moss. I'm ...

Re: Power finesse rod

A 1/8th total weight rig and full grip is a gap against your needs but I use the NRX 893. 30# braid and a 1/4oz shaky head is my normal rig on the 893

892 Glx reviews I've seen suggest it too soft for me

Re: Kistler h3 7'3" heavy

With a small spinnerbait on with braid as good at emitting blade vibrations as I have fished. Yes. Very versatile blank but not slow by any means..... Just not extra fast

should be a sweet rod. I look forward to getting a report on the action of the blank. Not having it listed as a xfast might be a help if fishing braided line

Re: 2019 kistler z bones in stock

thanks, my kistlers of old have something that I think bigger then true micro. I don't recall those either.

Though I have to say, I don't get bigger guides on longer rods. Seems like longer rods would benefit most from lighter guides. Short rods not so much.

give us a report and pictures!
