Re: Jig Rod Recomendation

Not good to hear the new cork does not meet expectations. the old marble mix is holding up very well on my prior model. I agree the 7'3H may be too fast for some people. it is borderline to me.

Re: G. Loomis MBR 842 GLX

mine are older models 782 for pointer 78 size, Pop'rs, Sammy 85 and any kind of small crank. can't stand the rod for bottom bouncing. Exceed 1/2 oz and rod is overloaded 842 for finesse bottom bouncing, found I did not like if for anything else. the strangest thing was preferring lipless cranks on t...

Re: Help me choose my first NRX please! :)

if you are fishing 10# line, I think you need to go 2 power. If you go to 12#, I recommend the 893. I base my rods power mostly on the line I fish. I often will toss 5/16oz rigs into vegetation with a 4 power rod.

welcome and I recommend you put a small counter balance on that 894 unless your 25 years old. I use a chair leg protector with 3 quarters. makes the rod feel lighter then feather by balancing it.

Re: The Go To big T-rig / C-rig Rod

I guess the question we need to ask is the c-rig and t-rig rod one an the same. c-rig for me is typically offshore structure or grass. the T-rig mostly more target practice. If I am offshore seems I pick up a jig over trig.

Re: The Go To big T-rig / C-rig Rod

everyone knows I'm going to say NRX 894 so I will get it out there. Now if you go above 1.2oz total weight you need something else but I never do that with a T-rig. I do at times with ball and chain

Re: Your line preference for casting model NRX?

all my mets besides 1 have 30# Braid on them and I fish them on my 894's, 893s. I fish in and around Okeechobee most of the time. I just find the braid is easy to deal with and I have less drama with it. Up until 5 to 8 years ago when I started to fish FL most of the time, I would have said 17 to 20...

Re: Jig Rod Recomendation

I don't believe I've seen anyone post about the new zbone 7'3 and that is a shame. If it is better then the older model with just a little bit less heat in the tip then indeed it would be the bomb.

Re: Help choosing NRX

for your weights, a true 3 power (803, 853, 893). my weapon is the 893 but I owned multiples in the 803 for many years.

When I get above 3/8 I go 894 or when I am tossing a lighter rig into heavy cover.

Re: Kistler Helium3 vs Megabass Orochi vs St Croix LTB

the Kistler HE3 7'3H exfast is very good. 3/8oz total weight rig needed on the light end. I do throw 1/4oz plastic rigs on it with light braid but I'm a power freak casting into cover.

Re: Jig Rod Recomendation

I like 7'3 to 7'6. I grew up on 7 but that feels short in 2019. action- fast to quick side of fast for deep water. Power is at least a 4 power. I fish 30# braid and find braid and true xfast rods not great together;;;; breakoffs on hookset. rods I fish in order of preference for your app 1- NRX 894-...

wow, maybe I will take a picture of my HE3 next week when I'm down in Florida and have access too it. Put U40 on it and it looks virtually new. I've not detected any difference vs any other cork rod I own

Re: Finesse jig and light texas rig rod for 3/16 - 1/2oz

make that 4.

I have a mbr 843 glx. can be used for same purpose and with light braid similar to 893 but still not as good. Unless you have an objection to a 7'5 and 3.8oz rod, I am hard pressed to believe a better option on planet earth exists.

Re: Anyone add weight to butt section for better balance?

I use the chair leg protectors with some quarters in them on my 894's. far better and listen to what I'm going to tell you-------- got really bad tennis elbow one year after a week casting hard in Florida. Took a long time to recover. I find balanced rods reduce the stress on your forearm. I use a t...

Re: Kistler He3 vs ALX Zolo

I have only one HE3 (7'3H exfast) and no ALX. I find the HE3 extremely sensitive- far better then my old school GLX rods and very competitive with my NRX. I sometimes throw small spinnerbaits on braid and have nice hook up ratio on this non-traditional approach. My next rod maybe the 6'9 MH or 7'4
