Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

by the way to original post- I only own the old Chronarch CI4. I prefer it for moving baits and frogs to my Mets. Mets shine to me on bottom bouncing.

Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

original Alum

my best guess is I can break teeth and apparently bent the spool using straight braid. I keep drag relatively light but I know I sometimes snap 30# line on the hookset regardless.

Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

I'm a 30# braid guy most of the time. I find the MetMGL will outcast my tuned 13mets with a 1/4oz total weight rig. I tend to use my MetMGL for shakey head and favorite plastics. Use my 13Met's for all other bottom bouncing. All work well I just like the MGL. My last cleaning showed several teeth to...

Re: Nrx or glx

I can only speak to the NRX models. The 893 is far less powerful then the 894 in the tip. As you get down to the butt section they may only be a power rating apart. Further my 893 is lighter and better balanced then the 894. I would not give up either. The 893 to me is of similar power as my old sty...

Re: Nrx or glx

No. I’m fishing 1/4 and 5/16oz total weight rigs on 12#fc or 30# braid. If I drop any lower I go to spinning gear

Re: NRX 854

you have made a wise choice! If I had to fish 1 rod for the remainder of my days, this would be it. My 894's have a black chairleg butt cap mounted on them with 3 quarters as I recall. Makes the rod balance exactly at the nut seat with a 6oz reel. when I was working senko's and burning worms, I did ...

Re: Nrx or glx

NRX 803 and 893. I prefer the 893 but have owned both for many years each. The 893 was developed for senko's and soft jerkbaits. I use it for shaky heads mostly.

Re: How fast is too fast?

I think 36ipt is my max. I've found situations where I hook a big bass and get her to the boat so fast she has not even started to play out and when they see the boat they go crazy. Have yet to loose a 8lb or larger bass this way but I'm expecting it to happen because I felt lucky to land the few wh...

Re: Champion Extreme 745HP

I was getting my gear ready for my fishing season (Nov to May) in Florida and I was out casting my 765 crankbait rod in this series. I find the blank emits plenty of vibration to detect a deflection with a spinnerbait. Maybe not NRX but as stated above, not missing fish.

Re: Champion Extreme 745HP

I tried a Dobyns champion graphite cranking rod in the spring. My reaction was much as yours. Very pleasing rod to look at and well assembled. Handles fish well. Sensitivity was good but I never made any conclusions in part because it is a cranking rod and I did not buy it to bottom bounce.

Re: Need help ( Bottom contact rod)

for me, you are NRX 894 and NRX 893 zone. I use my 894 for jigs and plastics. I will go down to 1/4oz at times if I am pitching to a laydown or grass. Normally I am 3/8oz to 1oz. The 893 is my Shaky head rod. I typically fish a tw rig of 5/16oz (zoom trick worm, 3/16oz head/hook). I have not fished ...

Re: G Loomis nrx

seems to me your needs could go either way - 893 or 894. No doubt the 893 is listed as a Senko rod and its length and butt section give you more fish landing capability then you would think given a limber tip. I like power so understand that is my bias. Here is how I fish them 893, 30# braided line-...

Re: NRX 854

yes but keep in mind I have the zbone produced just before this last release. My zbone is a true xfast rod so it fishes a little stouter then the NRX. Maybe too fast for a braid guy in a short line application. I have no idea what the new model is like.

Re: NRX 854

My MH LE is a bit too soft I've not fished this model LE but when I hear someone say this, I think stout hook set. This leads me to the NRX 873 or 894. From the reviews of the 854, not clear to me it would be stout enough in your hand. 10 other guys might say your LE is just fine with the lures you...
