Finally got my UL rod in, Rapala RFS Micrology. Will be using it with my XT1000 + Yumeya 32mm spool while I wait for my Aldebaran to come in, hopefully soon.

Re: Show off your BFS Casting Reels
Has anyone tried aftermarket spools on the 16 Aldebaran BFS yet? Any comments on the performance gained when throwing lighter lures?

Re: First things you would change/modify on a new reel?
This reel is fantastic right out of the box. I was backyard testing some crème micro crank baits yesterday for distance. They weigh in at 1.51g on my scale and I measured 54-58 feet on average with a full cast in a light variable wind. 6'4" light power Jackson stc and 6lb co-polymer. Brakes were se...

Re: Best aftermarket BFS spool?
Just curious, what will I gain/lose if I use a shallow spool on a regular setup? I am about to find this out. I plan on putting my 32mm Yumeya spool into a Aldebaran Mg-7 and mount it on a Poison Glorious ML 6'4" Greyhound. The line that I will test with is 8LB Berkley Big Game mono. I want to see ...

What are some bearing oil that you would recommend? Or is the stock oil good enough?

Re: First things you would change/modify on a new reel?
Bearings are pretty good in the Aldebaran BFS. I have 2 of them. The 16 is my favourite BFS reel I've used. Smooth, casts great (windy or not), handles wide range of baits, so on. Is very small as well, noticeably smaller than my Alphas Air. The clicking drag is sweet too. Did you swap anything out...

First things you would change/modify on a new reel?
Hi yall, I will be getting a 16 Aldebaran BFS middle of next month and was wondering what you guys would generally swap out or modify right after you get the reel. Reason why I am asking this is because I would prefer to have all the parts required of the modification here when the reel arrives. Wou...

Re: Best aftermarket BFS spool?
I have a KTF spool in my 50E curado and I had more but seems like I have only the 34mm yumeya spool in my D7 and Iove them both. I can't say enough about the ktf.. I have been eyeing the DIY spools but i have not gotten one.. What I can say with certainty is that I was fishing extremely deep water ...

Re: Best aftermarket BFS spool?
Yea, that would be interesting. My yumeya spool finally came and even after spooling it up with ~45m of 6lb mono. I have tons of space left over.ccass wrote:I'd like to see an extreme BFS spool. Like 30m of 6lb or even less. I've never had a problem with braid on fragile finesse spools.

Re: Best aftermarket BFS spool?
sorry, just saw your question! i believe it was the 0915, but i can't remember. frankly it felt fragile. i wanted to put some 15lb braid on it, but thought it felt so fragile it would damage the spool. it had very very little line capacity. i'm sure it could be a nice spool for someone wanted to us...

Re: Ultralight BFS rod vs Trout rod Comparison
Good to know that a UL bass rod can handle lighter lures just fine as I was debating between the fine tail VS. other UL bass rods because of the post you made earlier on!

Re: Has anyone tried Rapala's finesse rod lineup? Rapala RFS
Yea, I guess that was kinda weird. I did asked Rapala and it seems kinda light coming in at 97grams for the smallest rod (micrology)wbook01 wrote:If they are seeking sensitivity, why break relatively short rods into two pieces?

Re: What line to match Yumeya MG 32mm.
on my yumeya bfs mg spool i have a small amount of 6 or 8 lb izorline xxx backing and then spooled up with 15lb power pro mostly because i prefer the smaller diameter of the braid and allows for more line capacity. i'm mostly throwing 1/8-1/4 oz size lures with that reel. and i love that spool, rea...

Re: Best aftermarket BFS spool?
i've had both an avail and a yumeya mg and much preferred the yumeya in my curado 51e. i ended up selling the avail and keeping the yumeya mg and love that spool. Awesome to hear! I did ended up with the Yumeya spool. Just curious, which model of the Avail spool was it and also, what did you not li...
