Re: 2024 All new Posion Adrena

I thought Shimano would trickle down their Ci4/cork foregrips from the Glorious, but instead they doubled down on the metal locknut + no foregrip for spinning models...looks even more uncomfortable than the current spinning handles. Yep that's whack. For that reason alone, I will not be getting an ...

Re: Shimano Excite Top Rods

Shimano excite top is NO solid tip, actually may be said to be the opposite. these excite top has a hardened tip section and a softer blank between mid section and the first 4 guides, and the intention is to make it easier to shake the rod tip with minimal force. I own the Poison Glorious 264SUL+ m...

Shimano Excite Top Rods

Anyone use any models with this tech? I'm leaning toward an UL rod with the Excite top for hover stolling ~3g rigs, maybe throw some light neko rigs.

Re: Aldebaran Tough to Dial In?

For that BFS rod, what size line will you be using? Anything larger than 8lb fluoro, ~0.24mm dia, I'd opt for the 30. Ald BFS holds about 50m of 8lb sniper/shooter. I've spooled to the halfway mark on 100m shooter spools.

Re: Aldebaran Tough to Dial In?

My Ald 22 BFS reels like between 4.5-5 on the dial from a soft cast to a hard cast. I've got a few 30mgls and a 50mgl and they like four internal brakes and a dial around 3. Never really finicky once they're dialed in. I think it's whatever tech Shimano calls the o-ring on the spool shaft bearing. M...

Re: ZPI back to making spools?

They released a statement yesterday saying they are done producing reels and moving back to strictly tuning parts. Saw it on their Instagram page. From ZPI JAPAN facebook page Thank you for the five years. Office ZPI Co., Ltd. will end its challenge as a comprehensive fishing tackle manufacturer. Wi...

Varivas Super Trout Advance Double Cross 8 PE braid

Anyone using it? Thoughts? Not much mention of it on here or elsewhere for that matter. Cal previewed it but I haven't seen a follow up on it. I want to try out a sinking braid for bass fishing in #0.8 and it's between this and Sunline Almight. Leaning towards the Varivas as from everything I've rea...

Re: New Poison Glorious

Got the 2610 ul/m in yesterday. Always was interested in this one and pulled the trigger when I saw one up for sale. UL soft tip, smoothly transitions into a medium butt. Denoted as XF taper, I feel like that's where the UL tip shuts off. Bends smoothly through the upper mid section. Near full shut...

Re: New Poison Glorious

I got the 166L+ BFS in yesterday. SiC version, weighs 89.40 grams on my scale, an increase over the 87 grams when the weights were taken with torzite guides. Balances tip up on the lock nut with an Aldebaran BFS. Hope to get out with it Saturday.

Re: New Poison Glorious

I'm interested in the PG 170H too. My main interest is pitching jigs to the outskirts of heavy cover. However, the Glorius technique chart surprised me in showing the 170H as suitable rather than optimal for jigs. Does anyone like or dislike the idea of the 170H as a dedicated rod for pitching jigs...

DIY Small Rubber Jig Storage

Decided to make this post after seeing another thread on finesse jig storage. I got the idea from fly boxes. Grabbed a Gamakatsu G-Box 3600 slit foam case. Measured to create 1" wide sections. Cut every other section out from left to right with an exacto knife. It wouldn't be symmetrical, so I cut t...

Re: Shimano Expride Thoughts??

I just got the 7'6" ML plus a few days ago. Weighed 114.05 grams on my scale, 4oz. Balances 1 cm in front of the cork grip with the new Vanquish 2500. Balances on the tip of the cork grip with an unspooled Stradic FM 2500. Haven't got a chance to fish with it yet.

A lot of discontinued parts on fishshop.shimano

I think I heard Shimano is moving to global parts numbers. Is that why a lot of parts are listed as "discontinued" until the website gets updated? For example, the Curado K 200XG drive gear shows as discontinued. BNT5688 >> 10SRN. The part really isn't discontinued already, is it?
