Re: Under Spin 101
I have used a variety of manufacturers including some homemade options and mostly will fish a 1/4 and 3/8ths oz head with a swimbait or "fluke" style trailer. I use the same setup as my spinner bait rig which I believe is a 7' MH/XF casting rod with a 200 size reel and 10 or 12 lb test. The retriev...

Re: Equipment Related Pet Peeves
Spinning reel related pet peeves in general. Just the "bulkiness" of the reel and the line guides are off putting to me. The absolute one thing that used to drive me insane about it the most was line twist. Finally switched over to braid to eliminate that and now its wind knots. Ugh...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels
I fish 99% Curado's and Calcutta's so I voted the $176 - $200 range although I do have some of the larger 300 CU's and 400 CT's (and a 400 CT). A $175 to $250 price range would describe me to a T! Haha

I have used a handful of different brands and my favorite so far by a wide margin for both lighter and heavier pound tests is Sniper.

I generally use mono or a co-poly in 12 or 15 pound test.

Re: Preferred reels for distance
If anyone has a Citica E, find a Curado E spool and install it. Flush stock bearings with acetone or upgrade. Something about tolerances between the reel and spool combo makes it very wild and free. I have to turn the brakes up more than I would normally for that platform. The distance I get on big...

Re: What's your thoughts on bed fishing?
It's not much of an issue on very large lakes with lots of cover. It's a big issue on small lakes with not much cover and lots of fish being taken to the weigh in. Bass are cannibals also, and they will eat what is available. I doubt many people consider that they are taking away a food source by b...

Re: A good day of bass fishing, what does it take?
Honestly, just sharing a day on the water with Pops. I always pray for us to have safe travels to and from the lake. Catching fish on top of that is the icing.

Re: Favorite Or Greatest Bass Fisherman Of All Time
Gotta say it, my Pops for getting me into it when I was a wee lad. Even though I took 20+ years off to pursue surfing, I came back to it and have a new-found relationship with my Dad that had been void for many years.

Re: Carolina rig Advice...
1. - I usually use 1/2-1 oz and let the depth, current and wind dictate which size to use. 2. - I usually got from 1-2 feet depending on how aggressive the bite is. The more aggressive the shorter the leader. 3. - I usually just use mono. 12 lb. main line 8-12 on the leader, again depending on the a...

I have done it, and will do it again! Haha. However, this is mostly for saltwater fishing our local bays (for Bass of course).
