Re: New Curado 70 mgl K

The pictures on the TT preview are the same as Shimano's website which shows a green hue to the reel in most of them, but the final photo looks like a Curado DC with a dark green drag star, which I suspect is how it actually looks, and the rest of the photos just have a white balance issue. Shimano...

Its the old 70 from 2015 with different colors, deep MGL spool and MM gears.
And 3 more bearings. I guess one on the crank shaft and one knob each?

Re: Dry 2020 Metanium Drag Stacks?

Same resistance with the star backed off, haven’t opened mine yet. After what you’ve described sounds like I should  it’s a JDM HG lefty. But wait... doesn’t my Bantam behave the same way? (That one received a lube Job last October)

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster

I don't think the spools are different size at all, depth or otherwise. Check the specs on both websites yourself. If anything, Shimano USA got the meter to yard conversion wrong on the 14lb rating. All signs point to them bieng the same, exact spool. As for the Antares/Metanium spool comparison, I...

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster

I think the Anteres spool is nearly identical except it has the additional side porting and different axle dimensions right? Probably not a big difference, but every little bit helps right, at least at the lower end. If you’re comparing the Antares to the JDM Metanium yes they’re almost identical, ...

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020

I fished a friends one lately and am quite disappointed with how it palms - rod tip down I place my index finger on the chin piece - wasn’t comfortable, just like the Tatula CT / zillion sv tw frame. His Steez CT was super comfy tho. Daiwa knows how to upsell 🙄

I would go for better balance, torzites, and a full carbon fiber grip. It is 2020 after all.
If they go low effort design again I’ll strip the whole thing and build just that 😤

Re: Unknown blank power

I feel the action plays a big role in this, not only overall power. If the measured power is the same, the faster and steeper the tip the lighter the lure range feels for me. Thinking about my latest buy - evergreen kaleido super cougar - the tip feels as soft as a ML in my arsenal (380g RDA) while ...

Re: How much line to put on bfs reel?

Hands up if anyone has used 100m of line on a fish in Freshwater? Either due to break off when snagged or I get rid of the abused tip part over a couple of months until I’m down to 50m / 54yd. Sometimes I need to cast 44yd to reach the perch from the bank (central Europe), so I wouldn’t wanna go be...

Re: How much line to put on bfs reel?

If we’re talking about the 16 Aldebaran BFS XG, I just spooled new line (100 meters 8lb / 0.13mm jbraid Grand) on mine and took some measurements Empty: 26.25” per turn Full: 30” per turn The line weighs 1.8g So I’d say for going only half full, both inches per turn and weight are not decreased to w...

Berkley Frenzy Popper Alternative

Hey guys I‘m looking for an alternative to the discontinued berkley frenzy popper we had quite some success on over here in Germany for European perch. I think what makes this bait stand out is the combination of a walk the dog action and a rather deep plopping sound rather than a big splash. So doe...

Re: Snaps

Correctly sized snaps rather enhance the lure action as the lure can move around freely. For the same reason hard lures come with split rings to tie on right? If you swap out the split ring and rather use a snap you’re just saving line and time. 000 can turn out super small, 00 is the smallest I usu...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

I'm in the UK and still in the EU for a few more minutes. They sell them here and are fairly popular as a premium brand. They are very popular in Holland too. I imagine they're less popular in Germany as they don't make many suitable longer rods, which are more commonly used in countries with limit...
