Re: 12# sniper?

I had a few mysterious breakoffs with Assassin last year (reviews say it has bad abrasion resistance) so I'm all in on Sniper now. Never had an issue with it and I fish it in 6 (leader line for spinning rod) 10 (jerkbaits), 12 (cranks and some light bottom contact) and 16lb (jigs and heavier texas ...

Re: 12# sniper?

Sniper works for me. Oddly enough, I prefer skipping with FC vs braid. Idk what it is but, I feel there are less problems. An issue is, when there is a problem outside of a small amount of loose line, it is major and usually cannot be undone. Ight, so spending double on tatsu probably won't save th...

12# sniper?

I haven't found a great 12# flourocarbon line for skipping weightless plastics. Berkeley vanish, Berkley 100%, invisx, and sunline assassin are what I have tried so far. I get the occasional overrun, it creates a weak spot and the line snaps very easy. Funny thing is I don't have this problem with 1...

Re: G. Loomis rods

It seems like all rod companies have QC issues. I have a NRX, glx, a handful of st.croix rods, and a kistler. No problems so far with any of my USA gear, but I've seen plenty of posts where someone has had multiple problems with each of those rod makers. I had 2 MB destroyers snap, 2 with epoxy free...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

I'm going to pick up a LE 7MF spinning rod before spring because of their focus on build quality and durability. My friends&family have st.croix rods over 20yrs old. I have lighter more sensitive rods but never had a st.croix break in a normal fishing situation. I think a lot of the rod industry is ...

Re: What are you Skipping with?

SV reels are the ticket for skipping. I do jigs and weighted plastics on my glx854c/sv103. weightless on my Diablo 68xti/sv105p.

Re: **Daiwa BLX & Megabass FMJ

I’m one of the unlucky ones that has to order rods to get my hands on them and if it’s not the feel I’m looking for I have to send them back and try again. Same old song I know but it can be exhausting lol Daiwa dropped that BLX in which the few reviews I can find on them say the rods in general ar...

Re: NRX 854c vs Megabass FMJ

I own a NRX 894, GLX 854 and owned an FMJ. I can't make a direct comparison between FMJ and NRX 854 but I think I can help ya out. I can say that the FMJ has a 1/2 click more power than both the nrx894 and glx854 which have similar power. It's seems to be a common opinion that the NRX 854 is a half ...

Re: Disappointed

I have a 7MH LE and prob wouldn't be my first choice as a jig rod but its very legit for topwater and spinnerbaits. I can also say I've never had a st.croix break in a normal fishing situation. Can't say that for other top dollar chinese made rods.

Re: Righty Spinning AND Lefty Casting?

It seems to me reel manufacturers had it bass ackwards. It should be natural for a right handed person to cast right handed, set hook right handed and reel left.

For me lefty spin and righty casting.
Same. I think its due to there not being many LH baitcaster options when I started. I have read that your non dominant hand is more sensitive though, shaving was an example they listed. May be a blessing in disguise.

Re: How many rods/reels do you actually use

I have 7 high end Baitcast combos, 2 spinning combos, and 3 guest baitcast combos for bass fishing. So 12, they all get a good amount of use. Baitcasters: 1. XH Punch/swimbait- ill also use it as a frog throwback 2. XH frog/deep jig 3. H bottom contact open water 4. H bottom contact close quarters 5...
