Here's one of my OG Black Max 1600s, I have since swapped the handle and star wheel for the curved parts found on the newer C3 reels.

Sweet. That almost looks like a Morrum, which I was really tempted by but never got.

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?

Their days of innovation are long behind them, now they just pick parts out of the Doyo catalog or, in the case of Swedish made reels, recycle old designs, change the color, and call it new. Not saying there's anything wrong with them, it just wouldn't be my thing for that. I have one of the black ...

Hard to believe but my T3. Something about that round smooth gear pinion bearing shaft. Idk what it is but it feels smoother than my steez and IP
That's true, mine is still smooth and effortless after a huge amount of use. Maybe that's the reason they designed it that way... Hmmm...

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?

Yes it is. Hard to say is it mainly by his ridiculously expensive Anglo&co rods or by his remarkable casting skills. I guess it's more on skills despite of his high end rods. But bottom line is that all the energy hi puts to his rod transfers to lure and spool speed... I'd like to think if I had th...

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?

Fast taper on a glass rod. Strange. Isn't the main reason most people are looking into short glass casting rods is so they can get a soft, slow rod to help with flip casting and casting in general with light lures? Like the stuff Angler Sato uses? Sorry for the confusion, but I was off topic asking...

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?

I can't speak for another people, but for me idea of extra soft glassfiber rod is easier casting for lures of 2 g and below and great fun with 1 kg rainbow trouts. Probably different casting techniques are also easier to learn with slow and bendy rod. (My short glass rod still waits for order blank...

Re: Major Craft Rod for Guadalupe Bass Recommendations

I picked up a 5’ MC aji-do spinning rod built off their new 5g t1100g carbon blanks and if they use that in the new bass line I’ll have a bunch of them. Me too. I would hate to part with the rods I have now, but I would definitely do so for that blank. Also, yes one reason I like them so much is fo...

Re: Major Craft Rod for Guadalupe Bass Recommendations

The ms-x will be going bye bye as well this year and a lot of the models are already out of stock. Good thing I already have them all. Well, except for the 76BB. I honestly thought they were discontinued years ago as some of them were becoming hard to source a couple of years back. I got all of min...

Re: Major Craft Rod for Guadalupe Bass Recommendations

Lowrange, it was our conversation in another thread that motivated me to buy the Days. It does what I wanted it to do, so I’m happy with it. Just don’t understand Major Craft’s decision to rate it down to 1 g. That’s just inviting trouble. That makes two of us. My Volkeys are the same way I know th...

Re: Anyone make short glass UL casting rods?

It looks like Major Craft is adding some glass to their lineup. I wonder when they will be available? I really love my 4'5" L Finetail. https://www.majorcraft.co.jp/roditem/13957 I just bought one of the "new" Finetail 452L from JDM Tackle Heaven yesterday mostly on a whim. I think I would've proba...

Re: Daiwa JDM SV Light LTD vs Shimano Aldebaran GGL50 for finesse baitcaster

Never fished an Alde, but I live my SV Light. You can use any of the Air spools with it. It's perfect for 8-10# test. And, bonus, it comes with a CV-S reel cover. I use mine for bottom contact on a 6'8" ML bfs rod. It's great for skipping, pitching, and casting for accuracy or into a headwind, but i...

Re: Never thought it would happen to me

I use 8# fluoro on my SV Light, so I've never had it happen, but it did happen with the 4# fluoro on my ASC the other day. Didn't seem to hurt anything, and that's after every cast since 2018. I'll probably respool with the recommended 6# next time, though. I have 8# braid on my Alphas Air and never...

Re: Majorcraft msx

I have every one of the casting models besides the 76BB and, well, that should speak for itself. I do everything from 1/32 crappie jigs to 3oz swimbaits. Excellent rods. The only issue I've had is the foam grip came loose on my frog rod and I had to super glue the ends down to keep it from spinning ...

Hey how do those SLP grips feel? Are they hard or soft?
They're hard like any other I knob, but they have a glossy surface that feels grippier to me. Haven't fished them yet, though.
