Re: High end JDM rod recommendations

Yes. They'll be good quality, though, so unless you're just extremely careless you'll be fine. I don't think they have the same long term warranties over there that we do, anyway. They sure don't advertise it very much if they do, at least from what I've seen.

Re: Best rod tubes for travel

You could use an Airliner if you put a PVC or at least cardboard tube inside. They're lockable, but they're liable to break those anyway. I've never taken anything but three piece rods myself because you can waltz tight on the plane with those.

Re: High end JDM rod recommendations

They look freakin' sweet and I bet they fish spectacularly. They're not just over the top expensive, either. If you could source them, that is. I'd probably go with the Spanky myself, lol. Seriously, though.

Re: SV Light Limited

From all the 32mm spools, I prefer the SS Light Limited the best. I'm probably the odd ball here, but I didn't like the reel as much as I wanted to. Though not as bad, it still has that somewhat hollow and toyish feel that the SS SV has. The paint wasn't all that great either. Just my 2 cents. I ke...

Re: High end JDM rod recommendations

As an aside, there sure are a lot of racing references in JDM Tackle. Racing this, Lauda that, Zonda, Pagani, Type R, etc, I'm sure there are countless others. I'd never even heard of Designo and they printed Racing on their blanks, while the top tier Steez rods are the Racing Design series. It's f...

Re: High end JDM rod recommendations

I would highly suggest a Major Craft MS-X. Although not top of the line, it's a great bang for your buck. That or a Duckett. OK.. all joking aside the MS-X is a great rod from what I hear and if that is your price range, one of the best options. If you are looking for top tier, Made in Japan,...

Re: Thumb bar not resetting when cranking handle

He mentioned it happening with a Daiwa, which is odd because the thumb bar is directly connected to the clutch. You can reengage the reel by pushing up on the thumb bar instead of turning the handle. I could see it happening with an Abu, at least the few I'm familiar with, if it was taken apart and ...

Re: SV Light Limited

Bringing this topic back to life. I just picked a SV light LTD and would also like to know if there is a higher capacity spool available to use on this reel? No, but it holds plenty of 8# fluoro and more than enough 10-15# braid. You can use heavier line for pitching and skipping just fine. It's pr...
