Re: Perfect match for TN Steez.

How's that SJ78 fish? Was looking at one for mainly throwing half oz jigs but was worried the tip might be too light for that application.

Re: New Antares

Weight is such an overblown factor with fishing reels. As long as it palms well thats what matters.

Re: Big Braid for Big Baits

Learn the FG knot and tie on a "shock leader" of mono. If i'm not mistaken thats what they do in surf casting with braid in order to add a little give in case things get hairy.

Re: Balancing rods

Nothing wrong with adding weight to the butt to balance imo. Do it all the time with 10'+ long steelhead rods. Harder to do however on a rod from the factory, if you still want to keep aesthetics nice that is.

Re: Moderate Flipping Rod

Yeah the ratings on the 766 in IM are a bit wonky and its not rated as heavy as the HM version. After looking at the specs on the 769IM, its almost identical to the 766HM which just doesn't make much sense to me but is why I'm going to inquire about the two. As for shipping, I'm very familiar with t...

Re: Moderate Flipping Rod

Hobie, I think you've sold me on the idea of wrapping up one of those NFCs! Sounds like your struggles have been the same as mine over the years but you've been a bit more diligent about coming up with a solution  Also those Falcons and Kistlers look really sweet and would be right up my wheelh...

Moderate Flipping Rod

Wondering if the guys on here can help me in my search for a good moderate action flipping rod as I'm having trouble finding a rod with enough flex to load up deep into the blank while fishing close quarters with straight braid. I just bought an Edge Delta 777 and have been left feeling disappointed...

Re: Used SS SV or Tatula SV TW

I did not bash Daiwa... just stated I observed one backlash after another and he was not out casting me. Simple as that. I will say I don't like Daiwa baitcast reels, but that is just a personal preference- from decades of experience with all brands. I just don't like Daiwa but I do use older Daiwa...

Re: Accurist S3

The new Quantums are not bad at all and I would say some of their reels like the new Smoke S3 can compete directly with Shimano and Daiwas offerings at that price point. I have never seen the new Accurist in person but the first baitcaster I ever used was the Accurist PT and its still going strong s...

Edge Delta 777

Anyone fished this rod or something similar to it? I'm looking for a heavy duty flipping and pitching but the upper end of this rods specifications scares me a bit. It's rated down to 1/2oz which is right in my wheelhouse but on the other hand goes all the way up to 2.5oz. Such a wide range gives me...
