Re: Your most versatile rod?
i broke a nrx 843 and was sent a conquest 843 when i did the xpeditor service. not my favorite or the most sensitive rod in my quiver but probably the most versatile. very different rod from the nrx 843, quite a bit more powerful. i mainly use it for 3/8-1/2oz weight plus worm and single hook moving...

Re: Minimalist 2 Rod Setup
i would def go M over ML for the spinning rod.
id do nrx 852s (or glx 842s) and glx 843c. a third rod would be a heavy or 4 power jig rod.

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods
your ex, huh? that's odd because you were afraid about the sex change it was going to undergo as I was originally planning to make it into a spinning rod. I think we agreed it was a Bruce > Caitlin change and not the other way around.;) Not that there's anything wrong with that.:) to make this relev...

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods
i still use my glx bcr 803 all the time. mostly 1/4 jigs and plastic. im in the minority for sure but i love the recoil guides. the glx mbr 783 is used sometimes, mostly roll casting spinnerbaits to timber. i throw small paddletails on swimbait jigheads on the 842 occasionally. the others get let us...

Re: Worth the wait ?
id agree with most reviews of this rod that it is not a typical Loomis 3 power. i used it mostly for t-rig and dragging jigs. not very fast and tip is not too soft. like i mentioned above, i think 1/2oz plus plastic is the sweet spot. it is a bit tip heavy but not as much as the 874 if you are famil...

Re: Worth the wait ?
is this a new version? do you have a link?
i loved but sold (traded?) the NRX 873C CRR i bought years ago. let me know if you are referring to that one. fantastic 1/2oz plus plastic rod IMO.

Re: What rod/reel combo has/will withstand the test of time?
i still use my GLX BCR 803 all the time, mostly with 1/4oz arky jigs. has an aldebaran 51 on it now but i'd still use it with the core it had previously.

Re: JDM Shimano vs USDM Gloomis Comparisons
for one thing, the USDM G. Loomis rods will all have hook keepers. I dont think any of the JDM shimano rods do. that would drive me crazy, to me, buying a rod without a built in hook keeper is like buying a car without cruise control. :D interesting. i wish all of my rods did not have built in hook...

Re: Jig/T-rig Rod
check out the MB FMJ for 1/2oz jigs. a little bit of overkill for the cover you describe but feels as nimble in hand as a lot of MH rods. well balanced IMO. jig plastic rods are what id recommend spending the most on. id recommend a NRX used or on sale (expeditor service still works if not original ...

a loomis or st croix or something else with a similar replacement plan so if it breaks youre only out $100 or so.
