Re: $300 spinning rod for bottom contact techniques

WW, I haven't tried one yet. I did hear from another member here who sort of acts as a team pro a bit for G-Rods that the company altered its designs for the better. They had some issues related to tips as I recall. The issue was related to anglers sort of manhandling bass, swinging them in aggressi...

Re: Anyone use Nanofil w. 2lbs Fluoro/Mono leader?

I really like Nanofil though I have never used it with a leader. The only negative was my fault. I didn't use a backer or any tape on a spinning reel, got onto a really large fish, likely a catfish by the way it fought, and the whole mass of line spun on my reel. Again, user error but still the only...

Re: BlueSky Boatworks 360 Angler Review

For sure, just remove all links to TW and other sources for lures, lines, etc. I know how THAT goes, money spent on this and that! One thing I find rather compelling about this 360 is the fact that its catamaran style really opens it up for future conversions of all sorts. There will soon be an E-Dr...

Re: BlueSky Boatworks 360 Angler Review

Oh! And, no, I have no business/financial relationship with the manufacturer. I should have mentioned that in my review.

BlueSky Boatworks 360 Angler Review

First, let me mention that I bought one of these through a program where early subscribers could purchase one ahead of the release at a substantial discount. They retail for $3499 and I think I paid $2399 for mine. Cost wise, the current retail price is, more or less, consistent with other big kayak...

Reverting to Straight shank worm hooks

It took a while but I finally have largely moved away from offset and EWG hooks. There's a back story here but I won't go into details nor my motivating factors, just results. Since I have reverted to just straight shank worm hooks for, well, worms, but also Keitech shad/fluke looking baits, my hook...

Re: Tekel sprekel frog

I think this was one of the 2017 "over-hyped" products. It seems fine, to me, better of course for open water than it'd be tossed into pads and vegetation where its "kick" would be muted. But, each year, there are several of these really impressive marketing campaigns. Last year,...

Re: Best braid for spinning reels?

I'd mention that Sufix Nanobraid should be included in any discussion of top braids for spinning reels. I began using it in 2 lbs. for ultralight fishing. I'd catch the occasional LMB or catfish deciding to nibble on my small presentations. As of last week, I am now up to a bass just shy of 6 lbs. c...

Re: More Parabolic Punch Rod

More good points. There is no doubt that a longer rod has its merits, strong merits. One of those is that the sweeping motion on a hook-set takes up more line and that can be a big deal. And, really, even though we have poor leverage over the fish we are battling, it is rarely a big deal because we ...

Re: More Parabolic Punch Rod

I'm currently using a Megabass X7 Destruction. I haven't used it much but, I'm afraid it may not have the guts. I wouldn't think that the X7 would have the guts based on the manufacturers description and lure weights down to 1/4 oz. You need to go with a more parabolic dedicated punch rod if you pu...

Re: What happen to the Z hype?

On the "orange" Concept Z, I had this sudden flash from my memory cells about the first great "Z." It was the Datsun 240Z brought to America in 1970 or '71 as I recall. Oddly, it seems it was only available in a few colors and one of them was . . . an orange body with black inter...

Re: Flick Shake 9.8"

I think the "big/long worm fear" is that a bass will somehow miss getting enough of the worm inhaled to even get to the place where the hook resides, that the hook never makes it into their mouths. But, anglers use 12" and much longer worms, meaty worms, and throw them on 4/0 hooks th...

Re: Jackall or Robo plastics for drop shot

Just the small Roboworms for me, too.

But, I have had great luck, at times, on small Keitech shad-like baits when fish seem to have different "supper plans."

Just a bit of "OCD processing" and you will carry out at least two plastics and feel okay about it!

Re: What the Enthusiast? Keitech's Easy Shaker Worm

Everything Keitech makes seems to be of the absolute tops in quality.

But, for my drop shot, I love a small roboworm and it'd be hard to change for something that might catch as many fish, with luck, but at a higher price point.

I do love Keitechs, the Easy Shiner in particular.

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

Good review . . . above. I'd like to hear and see some "on the water" reviews. If one is out there, I have missed it. My guess is the ci4 material for the drag star is simply related to a desire to cut weight whenever and wherever possible. Does a star drag require more rigidity, heft? I d...
