Re: use of sharpie markers on soft plastics

Then you have those UV marker pens.

Pretty popular here in Aus to edit and graffiti the lure to taste.

Re: Core 50 MG - Magnesium Corrosion

Yeh the seller has used the reel in a salt environment extensively and our saltwater is proper salty - he said he looked after it but just not that near enough it seems. We've worked out a price and I'm happy with the end result. The Core line-up here in Aus was pretty thin and due to initial sales ...

Core 50 MG - Magnesium Corrosion

Purchased a decent exterior condition Core 50 MG - when received i did notice a bubble train of corrosion to the right of the clutch bar / back weep hole. The corrosion has eaten through the frame a bit at that location - inside there is a fair dot inside of the gearbox cover (about the size of a US...

Re: Team Daiwa TD-Z CU spinning reels

If you google TDZ 2000CU you'll find some pics of mine on a forum of them inside. They're still tuned in Japan by IOS where screw in handles are replacing the inserted ones and new gear sets are being produced. An old reel with a big following. What are they worth? Whatever your willing to pay espec...

Re: Sustain vs Certate JDM (or other similar priced reels JDM)

The sustain is such an odd reel....even though the price came own....and it gained more than it has in the past....it's still weird... How the Sustain Started under the Stella back in the day to where it sits now is the same old story as the Chronarch in the baitcaster line... 300$ for an aluminum ...

Re: Sustain vs Certate JDM (or other similar priced reels JDM)

Different forces with how the level wind and spool oscillation works, weights and wear is different in both designs and reel applications. Personally If I "could" find a capable machinist and someone that would be willing I would make some parts up for the oscillation in shimano reels that...

Re: Sustain vs Certate JDM (or other similar priced reels JDM)

I think the Twin Power and Sustain have the worm gear levelwind, pretty sure the Certate does, but know some of the new upper/mid tier Daiwa's have the single studded gear the controls it. Shimano uses worm and pawl oscillation- Daiwa seem to only use locomotion oscillation (only on old school and ...

Re: Bearing Greaser

I have one all the way over here in Aus.

Theyre good, extremely well built, however quiet wasteful and can overpack a bearing on smaller reels, great for larger heavier reels.

Re: Quieting Down Bearings

Inox MX6 grease is softer synthetic grease which works well - i use it than relying on cutting down thicker greases, also running in bearings on a dremel helps quieten them down too.

All depends on how noisy is noisy, it is a machine and it it mechanical in the end.

Re: The good old days

I got my near enough NIB FH at the end of last year, smooth and dependable they sure were! I have both the 200 & 4000 FH - mind you not with the push button folding handles. Plus this was the epitome of when manufacturers cared enough about their products to give spare spools, oil bottles, and o...

Re: Hedgehog Air BFS Bearings

They're noisy in my Calcutta 50XT BFS reel.

Like a 'zip' noise - can be annoying but i think its more than a noise issue - a mate had his Air BFS HH bearings explode in his Steez.

Only been casting < 4gr lures on 6lb mono so not like they've been pushed.

Re: How do I Care For My Kayak

In the states i think 303 Aerospace Protectant comes in a specific kayak, sup, canoe spray application. Here is Aus, just the normal 303 applied with a lightly soaked brush applied to rough finished kayak surfaces and drag off any excess with a thin rectangular sponge and allow time for the product ...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

This reel reminds me of the daiwa Z astetically. It’s like the smaller version and that is one of the biggest appeals to me Without the multi piece frame, crappy chinesium plastic thumb bar, flimsy clutch bar metal that traverses the thumb bar, yet awesome hyper alloy main and pinion, multi stack d...
