Re: KastKing Makes Big Moves with the iReel One
With the utter absurdity of technology and it's trend in fishing, I'm going back to basics and taking up knitting.

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster
Metanium 20 or Bantam MGL? I love my Bantam, but aside from the JDM PG model, I can't find one reason to choose it over the Metanium. The Metanium is essentially the same reel with a better spool and lighter package. Bantam has a metal clutch return leg though. What is that? This particular part is...

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster
Imagine how amazing it would be with the ported spool and the line guide as far forward as it could have been. DaveJ If it's got a thiner spool and it has a shaped line guide which it has - shouldn't be too much of an issue for the line to peel off / swing side to side easily enough. The guide coul...

Re: Cast Control Unlike Any Other: 13 Fishing Launches the Innovative Z SLIDE Baitcaster
Nothing special with "brown paper bag" - just envisaging enthusiasts hyperventilating... "Rooted" is like stuffed, broken, kaput - used in sentence "mate, but she's more rooted than 10 rooted things"... A good one to use on your mates if your somewhere to do something a...

Re: Cast Control Unlike Any Other: 13 Fishing Launches the Innovative Z SLIDE Baitcaster
I fail to see how making the reel out of plastic is going to be an improvement in durability over the previous gen. Imagine a Ci4 Metanium, Bantam MGL or even dare I say it... ANTARES... Brown paper bags sales would go through the roof... Your absolutely right in what you said - marketing aside, it...

Re: Beware the Bait Finesse Addiction : Shimano's Scorpion BFS
Cal, Do you have any way to test the black oxide surface treatment for "hardness" on the main gear (any of the scales would do I guess) - wonder if its a simple oxide surface or a baked on ceramic style treatment for longevity and a way to increase the low friction coefficient for the drag...

Re: Living up to the Hype? The Zero Ball Bearing Concept Z from 13 Fishing
Can you take a angled microscopic pic of the inner surface and the shaft surface where the bush applies to after use.
One of those digital microscopes that takes pictures is invaluable in instances like this.

Re: Living up to the Hype? The Zero Ball Bearing Concept Z from 13 Fishing
Utilizing what is billed as a “space-age” polymer in place of traditional bearings this reel is designed to offer anglers improved cast and retrieve while also improving longevity and durability in harsh saltwater environments. Sounds too good to be true? It’s time to see just how much of the hype ...
