Re: Stradic FM 2nd Chance
Hagane means "steel" in Japanese - just a marketing term for metal in Shimano land, just like Ci4 /+ or Magnumlite for PA+30 polyamide when you see it stamped. The gears (main) is cold forged that's about it. To counter the Calcutta B has a forged aluminium frame, from waaaaaaaayyyyyy back...

Re: Stradic FM 2nd Chance
The frames are cast / injection, not forged.
Unless someones saying they are - which I've not read anywhere in the current company literature?

Re: That DC whine
I don't find it annoying at all, but i found the whine to be way cooler back in the original antares/cacutta te days when the dc coils were exposed instead of being inside a plastic shell. That was some cool transformers sound they made. Calais DC makes a awesome whine. It's got to be the body mate...

Re: Stradic FL 5000
You can install them normally by making a modified fork tool that holds the bottom clutch plate in place and you slot it over the pinion carefully and just slide backwards leaving the clutch in place.

Re: Bearing cleaning in ultrasonic cleaner
The small jewellery ones aren't too bad, but the more commercial sized jobs that heat the water up a lot more can be more on parts. But if you've ever seen what cavitation can do on metal parts it's eve opening. I typically just wash bearings by hands in degreaser and flush under warm water to clean...

Re: JIS screw driver set
It's because of the red lock tite they seem to love to apply to certain screws.
Heat that up a touch and it'll loosen without the need of harsh language or expensive screwdrivers, which may slip and pass through post parts.

18 Bantam MGL PG drag?
Just imported my third 18 Bantam MGL PG into Aus and noticed that it's got a super "hot" drag, best way to describe it as engaged probably at 2 or 3kg pull when fully backed off and about 10kg easy when engaged - drag star is stiff going from backed off to full drag. Bought it off a reputa...

Re: New Tatula is $100
I had one on a zillion crack just putting the reel back together. I was able to repair it, but it should have never broken like it did. I have had to force the plastic hoods off the Curado K and the Tranx 200's - not only are they screwed to the frame they're also hot glued and they take a "LO...

Re: ZPI back to making spools?
I kinda don't trust a brand that began selling some $70 noname reels for $300. It'll be happening even if you don't believe it, most likely raw product made there and packed in J-a-Pan and it gets a "Made In Japan" sticker and pricetag to boot. How else are they to stay viable in today's ...
