Re: 2020 Zillion 10

Honest to God - have taken my reel "servicing hat" off and put my "fisho to fisho" deep and meaningful hat on - get your reel pre loved with decent greases and a good application of a water shedding grease on all internal surfaces and you'll have a longer lasting reel, if not for the performance gai...

Re: 2020 Zillion 10

When people buy these reels - does anyone actually consider getting them pre serviced? It would avoid the issues of things gumming up and corroding.

Re: Exsence dc 17 dc sound gone

Yeh get onto replacing those offending bearings and back off the friction knob so that their is a hairs width of side to side play in the spool. From what it looks like the spools not getting enough revolutions too.

Sounds like you've got a few bearing issues in there from the sound of the raspyness on the video. Or is it just me?

Re: Drag Click Resource? / Daiwa and Shimano

Most spinning reel drag clickers sound like that because a resonate off the bellhousing flash full left when the drag is engaged. To get that same sound from a drag from a baked arsehole would be near enough impossible it's always in a sound like a ratchet

They're available here in Aus, however have seen 5 available for sale in second hand sites and stores already.

They look good, but seemed to have aged very quickly in their finish.

Re: concept z problem

Sounds like the clutch yoke springs have weakened. Try stretching those out a little. That seems to do the trick a majority of the time when I encounter this problem. Weakened because of trying to overcome friction in the clutch assembly doubtful - however over time it's a good possibility that the...

Re: "older" shimano casting reels

Couldn't agree more. Agricultural, no nonsense bare basic designs that would last for virtually forever with the right use and adequate during and major maintenance. I'm doing a Antares MD and a Tranx 200 that have some major issues. Both these reels are LIKE NEW on the exterior too. Take me back to...

Re: Cleaning rods and guides

I use a truck wash which has a great rust inhibitor (Chemtech CT18) - you'll have a plethora of similar items; but steer clear of plain dish soap as its got salt in it. A good quality boot brush for the Eva which brings it up like new, just a Terry cloth in the solution for the Cork, and a soft hogs...

The more and or less saline waters affect the suspension. It would be immensly hard for a manufacturer to edit a lure for all coastal waters of the world.

Re: Drag?

but as far as current baitcasters go shimanos dartanium washers are smooth but high maintenance as they get very messy inside, a bit like the brake dust you get all over your wheels on a car but mixing with the gear lube. Your right on the Dartanium. It's like these soft brakes and discs on cars th...

Re: Gears over the years

There's every concoction and potion out there, but short of trying each and every one available I keep going back to Citric Acid solution and mechanically agitating / ultrasonics, lapping with 400+ grit wet and dry and mechanically polishing for the last step.
