Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

Well, my light inshore showed up today broken in half...rod tube was bent to hell. Second broken rod from them this month :( . I'm going to email them some pics of their thin, crumpled tube. It's a combo of their inadequate packing of the rod and UPS's mishandling of it.

Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

Well, after talking myself out of ordering one....I started really regretting it. Well, one popped up again on Sierra this afternoon and I bought it. 8-) . Really stoked. Now to find a 6lb line casting reel to put on it. Also, Sierra has one of the pacemaker 6'10"ml's for $129.

Re: Ramblings about rod power and preferences

Nah, not my style. To me fishing is fighting and playing the fish. That's the fun in it, which is lost when over powering the fish. It's like shooting a helpless animal, point blank range. That aside, I've lost FAR too many fish using a heavier or stiffer rod than the situation called for. I also m...

Re: Ramblings about rod power and preferences

I have similar thoughts. People tend to recommend lighter rod powers on this forum it seems. One I've seen several times where guys are using 2 power mbr's for jigs up to 1/4oz. I use a 4 power for 3/16 on up. But again, roll as you will 8-)

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I'm not planning on casting senkos with it. Was just wondering if it was capable to give me an idea of the tip action. I messed around with an 843 in the store and there is no way that thing would make for a designated 3/8oz jig rod, for me at least. Thanks for the replies. Anyone know how the Conq...

Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

Not the exact rod, but I have the Edge Black Widow version 6'10" DSR 6101-1 paired with an Exist 1025 that is an awesome combo! Is the handle on the black widow not the sheet?! Reminds me of my old lamiglas xmg 50 that I loved and lost in my divorce. Not sure what is going on with edge, but I'...

Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

Your h3 kistler uses the same NFC IM blank, so no surprise there. Kistlers zbone uses the NFC hm blank that came on apparently 'some' of the black widow rods. I think Gary smokes reefer, because half the edge rod socks I have show the logo on the opposite side so they don't match No biggie I guess.....

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Fished today with mine. 904c with a Metanium MGL and 15# Tatsu. Caught 16 Spots tonight, biggest around 3. 3/16 shakeyhead with trick worm. Little overkill, got it for t-rig and jigs, but couldn’t resist fishing with it today. Wicked sensitive, can’t wait to go to Chickamauga this weekend! Commonly tha...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I wish Loomis would add a little "bling" to their rods. I hate the look of the little cork fore grip. I've always loved their blanks, just not their look.........of course it hasn't exactly stopped me from buying their rods, but I might have a few more if they looked better! :D And they m...

Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

Gary Loomis has been making a light X fast rod for decades, the first was the IM6 SJR700. The light wading rod is getting very popular in Texas, Castaway made a 5 ft 4 in version, Get Bit still had some last I looked at a great price. The length people use seems to have started at 7 ft, but has got...

Re: Loomis JWR vs SBR

I don't know if this will be much help, but I owned the old sbr 812c back in like '04. The sbr's were stiff per say...like the bcr's of the time which were also painted blanks. The sbr performed like a jwr before they were popular. I think they faded for a reason, but I wish you could just pop in to...

Re: Edge inshore 6'6" light

My 20/25% off code hasn't worked on any of the rods (even checked to see if it would work on the fantasistas they've had for a little while). No bueno. My code did work last week on the live target walking frogs and walking sunfish (they were 5 and change). Sierra is the spot. I buy 80% of my clothe...
