Re: Best light line low profile baitcaster?

Thanks for all the help, guys. Now that I've narrowed down the field for UL reels. As ChuckE said, how about rods to match.

So I'm looking for a good worming (4-6in senkos) and jigging (1/8 to 1/4oz) rod to use with either an Alpha ITO or Pixy/Presso or Scorpion. Any suggestions?

Rod Choice for Pixy/Alphas Ito

I've found I can cast my Presso/Pixy UL bait caster combos more accurately and just as far as my UL spinning combos using the same lures and rated line. However, the key is to get a rod that loads effectively at the lower lure weights. If you try to overpower a bait cast rod (e.g. that doesn't load...

Re: Best light line low profile baitcaster?

The scorpions at $156 link doesn't work. Could you post it again? I found the Ito at $260 and the alpha 103's at $200. Are the Ito's worth the extra cost over the purple 103's and $100 more than the scorpions? Where's the best and cheapest place to buy online? I checked out Japantackle and Brooklynb...

Best light line low profile baitcaster?

I've been looking for a new low profile baitcaster specifically to use for light jigs and worming. I usually use fluoro or Powerpro (10/2, 15/4) and 4-6inch Senkos. I've been looking at the Pixy, Alphas, and TDZ. Since I've never used any of these reels, can someone give me some advice. I've got the...

Yeah, once I used my first Lucky craft Pointer, I hardly ever use husky jerks anymore.

Re: Fenwick HMG review

I noticed a lot of pros on bassfan.com use the Techna Avs. They are stiffer and pretty light and sensitive. Was going to get one until I tried out the Shimano crucial. And maybe it's just me, but I could swear the Crucial is lighter, just as stiff, and more sensitive. Definitely like to see how they...

Re: Best in-expensive crank baits?

When my Lucky Crafts aren't working, I can always fall back to the Rapala Tail dancer. The balsa construction gives it a wider wobble which seems to attract all kinds of fish....bass, walleye, pike, and even spring musky. I put away one that had a big hole in it from an imbedded big pike's tooth thi...

Re: Luckycraft- Rick Clunn

Yeah BPS has them. They look like fat raps. I got one there last year myself. Bit cheaper than the Pointers. I think they are like 21.99Can vs. 23.99Can. They're pretty good. Caught a musky on one last summer.

Powerpro 8lb 1lb mono diameter

HI,

I was wondering if anyone has tried using 8lb PP (1lb mono diameter
). I've used 15lb PP (4lb mono diameter) before without any problems but I've never used anything at 1lb mono diameter.

Re: medium vs medium light

Actually the St.Croix Avid Medium is quite stiff and is almost like a Medium heavy Gloomis. So you may be comparing a medium heavy like rod to a medium light rod. I've never used an ugly stick but I've used Avids and I always choose a Medium Avid when I want Medium heavy action, or a ML Avid when I ...

Re: Musky Reels

I've been musky fishing with the Daiwa Millionaire CVZ, Calcutta TE, and Abu C4s and C3s. I've even had long distance casting contests with friends using the same line, rod, and lure. And the DAiwa CVZ is by far the best. Even better than the Calcutta TE's, which was surprising. Never had any proble...

Re: Daiwa Light and Tough rods

According to a past Tackletour review of the Airrus CoMatrix, I read that the Airrus' rods were on the heavy side though. Is that true on the newer models?

Re: The price for tackle equals to how many fish caught???

I find that expensive gear is noticeably better at both ends of the spectrum. When you need a really sensitive rod for light walleye jigging and finesse fishing bass. And on the other end like heavy musky fishing. When I was using a cheaper setup casting out 3oz lures all day, I would fatigue real q...

Daiwa Light and Tough rods

HI, Just saw these rods in the local tackle shop and noticed how light they were. Did some searches and found that a couple pros use these rods including Iaconelli and Yelas. I'd just like to know how sensitive they are and if the sensitivity compares with the IMX rods or Techna AV, which a Daiwa re...
