Re: New Saint overpriced or not?

I have a hard time saying anything is overpriced before I ever use or touch it and that seems to be the position of many of the posters. I do remember when Loomis came out with the Conquest and/or NRX rods and everyone cried that they were not worth it. Well the people that thought they were worth t...

Re: Olympic Vigore

Really cool. That is the second video I have seen of rods being built in Japan where they install the reel seat and handle after the guides are in place, Not bad or good just different than I was taught. I have an Olympic and it is a great rod.

Re: Fishing Line Diameter

Larry, in your experience, do you notice a difference in lines that are "precision wound" to lines that are not?

Re: Steez A vs Shimano Bantam

Not wanting to throw gas on the fire, but I have both a Steez and a Bantam. Like them both but they are different reels. For me I never mod a reel because of need but because I can and by and large I think Daiwas have more mods available, but in all honesty most of my reels, what ever the brand, are...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?

i do not own a Dobyns but do not feel that a comparison between an Extreme HP and a GLX is a fair comparison. If you want to compair Dobyns to Loomis it should be between the Extreme HP and the IMX Pro as they are near the same price. I don't have a dog in this fight but think that is a more fair co...

Re: Daiwa rebillion rods?

The Rebellion rods are now on Daiwa's web site. The Luvias spinning reels are also there, not sure but don't think they were before.

Re: Daiwa BG 3000 or fuego lt 4000

If your quest is long term durability I think the BG would be it. I have a smaller BG and think it is great, and while I have not fished a Fuego I have fished other reels in the LT line and think they are some of the best spinning reels made. The obvious difference is the one you already mentioned, ...

daiwa BLX Rods

Wondering if anyone has fished with any of the BLX rods. I have handled a few but not fished with or cast any. Wondering if anyone can speak from experience. Thanks

Re: Blank recommendation.

Quite a few rods will handle that range. I assumed from your original post that you would like a rod around 7'. Often a longer rod will have a wider range of weights but several people listed some very fine blanks that I am sure will suit your needs. Taking into consideration that a 3/8 jig will wei...

Re: Blank recommendation.

Well from a 3/8 oz jig to a 2 3/4 oz whopper plopper is certainly a wide range. I tend to believe that a rod that will handle at the bottom end will probably not do the top end well and vice a versa. I know of no MH that is rated anywhere close to 2 3/4 oz so I tend to think what you want is not ava...

Rod repair

So I build a few rods every year but I repair a "lot" of rods every year. My present problem is that I took in a Major Craft UL to repair a guide. Before I start, my question is, if anyone has repaired a solid tip rod where the guide that needs to be replace is located at the junction of the two mat...

Re: Daiwa Kage

To answer a few of the questions. The Kage rods are around $200. I have been using one of the Frog rods for the past year and i am completely satisfied with it. Not a technique that demands top sensitivity but the rod seem well above average in that department. I have also handled, not fished, some ...

Re: Stradic FL

While I admire the precision of really good reels, both spinning and b/c, there is a point at which the improvements are hard to discern. The Exist is a wonderful reel and I really enjoy mine. I also have an older Certate that continues to preform well along with several Stadics of older vintage. Wi...
