Re: Why are Shimano reels so much smoother than Daiwa?

Regarding your comment on the comma, I would challenge that correction. I do not believe it is necessary before the conjunction.

On my last sentence being poorly constructed, I am not above a little self improvement. Why not provide some examples of how you believe it should look?

Re: Why are Shimano reels so much smoother than Daiwa?

"I don't know what walks of life you are in but it sure ain't can't be good with your analysis." Wasn't going to bring up grammar again since others have made the point but yours is horrendous. I understand that grammar is not important when talking with your friends but how do you even make a point...

Re: Why are Shimano reels so much smoother than Daiwa?

"Your mom giving you a PHD doesn't count" By the same token, playing a video game doesn't mean you are a fisherman or know anything about tackle. You should know that in this country, making jokes about someone's mother can result in your nose having an accident. Plenty of examples of dishonest stud...

Re: Why are Shimano reels so much smoother than Daiwa?

My goodness. I was told this is not how you do things around here. Seems that was incorrect. Given the source, no real surprise. My opinion, all things mechanical, that are not precision instruments, can be subject to tolerances that fluctuate. Then, you add that there are multiple parts and the ter...

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

"anything from Japan was deemed to be junk." I remember the same but the fact was, it was true. It took some time for the infrastructure, expertise and culture of quality to be realized. The business models of the day were different then. To assume the same course for chinese products is a stretch b...

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

May I suggest that the number of posts on an internet forum is no indication of the value of the opinion expressed. May I also suggest that if you don't like an expressed opinion, simply ignore it as I will ignore yours.

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

"they are willing to risk their name in their most premium category, by selling "decent or cheap" crap?" Absolutely yes. Profit is a huge motivating factor. That should be clear to most consumers by now. Congratulations on pursuing your education. Your naivete is disturbing but being around the curr...

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

"who was Robert E. Lee?" Sorry, only those who are history majors, Lost Cause goofs or civil war buffs care who he was and only the first group can differentiate between fact and fiction. Yes, this thread should be locked. Outsourcing is here to stay, regardless of the country. Reducing cost means h...

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

The chinese haven't had an original idea in a century. They are great at copying things and making good designs cheap and cheaper. The kids over there fight to get into our colleges and universities because their education system is still in the dark ages. Cheap is cheap. Cheap is never better.

Re: Shimano Vanquish - mini review

I have 3 Vanquish reels, 1000, C2000HGS, C2500HGS and all are perfect right out of the box. Nothing could be smoother. The rotor being so light weight makes the difference. Feels like the handle moves itself.

Simple suggestion, too many guides for such a short rod.

For transitions, guide heights are available on the Anglers Resource website.

I did not mention my experience with Gamma because is was very disappointing. Would never try Trilene.
