Re: Rod Length in Kayak vs canoe

In my decade of kayak fishing I’ve never purchased a rod for its length due to what I’ll be fishing out of. Is it a little easier to chuck a bait while seated if the butt of the rod is a little shorter, however if you stand up that problem goes away.

Re: Rods you bought for one technique that you weren't thrilled with initially ...

This is a good question! Mine was: Nrx 842MBR casting rod. I initially bought it for NED rigs, but quickly realized it was absolutely incredible for finesse reaction techniques like scrounger heads, tiny flukes, and tiny cranks. The one NRX that I really miss that I wish I didn’t sell...it throws t...

Re: Kayak Box

I’ve used a few things over the years. The YakAttack Blackpak is the best out there. It holds six rod comfortably.

Re: 842MBR vs 842SJR

I’ve both the Conquest 842 casting and spinning. I find the casting has slightly more power .25 —> .5 What do you throw in the 842C? I think I am going to end up with an 843C this year. I want to use it as my primary bottom contact rod, mostly for 1/4 ounce Texas rigs, but also 5” seniors and some ...

Re: NXR 873 vs 893

When I had an 893c and was throwing some 1/4 oz. stuff, I had an Aldebaran on it. I know it seems like a weird combo. Could have used a slightly longer handle, but it did the job nicely.

803 may be on par with the 852. well, at least to have anyone utter a negative word about an 803 would be a shock to me. possible on the internet but a shock no matter what
Didn’t like the 803c. It was a broom handle.

Hey, you asked

The conquest 842S is an amazing rod. Go with that.

How does the Conquest 842S compare to the NRX852S?
Slower. I don’t like the 852s or c. They’re XF action makes the rest of the rod a broom handle, imo

Re: Nrx/conquest finesse rod

I have both the Conquest 842s and 842c. LOVE both of these. Use the spinning for weightless senkos, Ned rigs and will, but don’t like it, drop shot. The casting is used for jerkbaits, tubes, light Texas rigs and small crank baits. The 842s has slightly more power than an NRX 822 syr. Given the NRX 8...

On topic, NRX MBR 843 imo. It does just about everything.
Couldn’t agree more! My favourite rod!

Re: ICAST 2019

I can't be the only one who dislikes the sound of the DC right? Even if it helps with casting, the very synthetic/artificial sound of it kind of turns me off. Just not the kind of sound I want to hear when I'm out in nature throwing in a line. Can’t stand the DC whine. Sold all my DC reels within w...

Re: ICAST 2019

I love Shimano stuff but I hate DC reels. Nothing like a screaming reel to ruin a peaceful morning on the lake. I better start stocking up before everything has DC integrated

Re: Spinning reel knob replacement

I hated the foam knob on my Stradic so I swapped it out with a left handed Shimano Septone knob, part number BNT4240. End cap part number is BNT4150. You’ll have to do some digging for the part number if you’re a righty.
