Looking for smaller siwash hooks in lieu of trebles

I'm looking for a source for siwash hooks I can use when I make my own inline spinners. I'm mainly creating lures very similar to #6, #9, and #15 panther martins (1/4 to 1/2 oz.) Any size or style of hook recommendations would be appreciated. I know gamakatsu makes a salt water looking one as I have...

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?

Thanks for the reccomendations, I just ordered $14 worth of the chinese spoons. I fish the upper midwest, mainly wisconsin and Minnesota trout streams. Inline spinners are what 99% of people throw and they work great but I figured after reading about spoons on here that they've got to be worth a try...

Trout spoon recommendations?

I'm looking to try some spoons for stream trout fishing. I fish medium to large trout streams, targeting browns from 12 inches to 22 inches. There is the possibility of trout up to 28 inches on this river. Any spoons I can buy in the US at tackle shops or links to a good spoon for sale on the interw...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

[ Avoid grease on AR bearings!" Even after being nice and sending this suggestion tip in a private message, the closed mind still stubbornly clings to grease is best no matter what. And this type of 'use grease no matter what anyone else says' leads to this: https://i.imgur.com/bf2ywya.jpg https://...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

I agree with slazmo. I now oil up my roller clutches with 3 or 4 drops of oil and no ill effects to speak of. I had installed a few this spring dry in shimano low pros and they rusted and got squeaky right away. Fresh water only

Antares 70 A

I'm looking for information from anyone who has one or has fished with one? I don't purchase new reels much anymore because I already have too many. In fact I have a new bantam and a new met and I don't use them that much because I love my cu200e7s and chD7s. I'm not a big dc guy either, I think it ...

Re: VBS brake maintenance/issues encountered

Thanks everyone for the tips. I pushed in on all the pins and also replaced 2 of the brake weights that had become deformed and fished the reel hard all weekend and she is as good as new.

VBS brake maintenance/issues encountered

I have many Shimano low pro reels, the majority of which use the VBS centrifugal braking system. To be honest I like it better than the SVS system, but perhaps I'm just a middle aged fishing guy set in his ways. I attempt in all ways to maintain my reels in manufacturer suggested ways, properly lubr...

Re: Who custom paints reels?

I posted about this too a while ago but didn't get anywhere. I bought three CH100D7's from a buddy and replaced all the internals as they were fished really hard. Plan on keeping the reels for life and wanted the frames and side plates repainted. I think I'll take the advice from a previous post and...

Re: Are we destroying our Gear Sets by pulling out snag?

I always place my thumb on the spool in hopes that this saves strain on the drive train and gears. In the future I'll try and wrap my line around something else and try to pull out lure and or break line.

Spinning reel knob replacement

I'm thinking of replacing the foam knobs on my Stci4+ 2500fa's. What do you guys like? Could be either shimano oem or aftermarket, I am open to anything.

Re: BNT4631-Idle gear pin

There is a running change to the part and the new number is BNT5310. Sometimes our bright ideas are for a reason. And there are times when we improve the bright idea and make it better and brighter. We even change the part numbers for time to time so you can continue to complain about the brillianc...

Re: STci4+2500FA Knob

Thanks for the tips. In case anyone ever finds this post looking for the same info I used a 10mm wrench and it fit perfect. Had to scrunch up the foam knob to get the wrench to fit. I put light grease on the threads to avoid the sticking in the future.

Re: Does Shimano say to grease or oil replacement felt drags?

I think you can buy those other kinds of shimano grease on flea bay, from international sellers. Maybe a shimano authorized bike shop would carry some of the lighter greases.
