looking at skipping rods

Hey dudes, I'm looking at trying a new jig skipping rod. For years I've used a 7' MH St. Croix Avid and it has served me well. I'd like to try a rod that is just a hair shorter and have it narrowed down to these 2 rods Fitzgerald Bryan Thrift 6'9" skipping rod (9 micro guides, 14 1/2 inch handl...

Reel frame painting

I picked up 3 CH100D7's that I did compete refurbs on: new main/pinion gears, worm shaft, line guide pawl, cross carbon drag washers, pawl cap, handle knobs, etc. etc. I fished the reels for the first time this week and very happy with them. I'm curious if anyone can paint the frame and/or side plat...

Tekel sprekel frog

For anyone that has used any of the new frogs with a kicker tail, should I try the tekel sprekel, the booyah knock off, or try and make my own?

Another bearing question

I'm working on a buddys old CU201BSF, and the bearing that slides on the Drive Shaft was rusted out really bad, and actually stuck on the drive shaft. The part# is BNT0031, I was wondering if that part, or a superseding part is still in stock? Thanks, I'm getting ready to place a parts order later t...

Re: a couple of parts questions

Hey Bantam,

I just called the customer service line at shimano to check the availability of a few parts. I asked the service rep what the part number is for a Calais 200DC and he told me BNT 5021. You initially told me 2949, which is right?

Worm gear pawl question

Every shimano reel I've ever cleaned has the back side threaded. I'm just wondering what the point is, and what size or type screw/tool goes in there?

Loud Spool bearings

I've got a couple reels with loud spool bearings. It seems like when a reel is new the spool bearings are generally quiet. Now I've got some older reels, and the bearings still function well, but even after a cleaning the are noisy on the cast. One set I just rinsed in acetone and applied TSI 321 an...

Handle suggestions for Curado Bantam

Hey TT,

I'm looking for new handles for a few of the classic green Curado201B. I don't want anything fancy, just looking for something cheap that works well. If anyone has any suggestions, whether new or used, I'm all "ears".

Happy Easter!

don't worry about adding any additional bearings. The factory knows what it's doing.
