Re: Stradic FL plastics

So the side of the frame that includes the stem and reel foot is aluminum and the other side of the body is a composite? Is this how most aluminum framed shimano spinning reels are?

Case for spinning spool?

A buddy gave me a simms gear bag and I've been packing it with all my trout gear. The bag is soft inside, but wondering if any of you have a case for a 2500 spool? Something to keep it from clinking off knives, flashlights, etc, etc. Also would come in handy in my boat.

Re: New Antares

Weight is such an overblown factor with fishing reels. As long as it palms well thats what matters. Exactly. Too many nerds on here that spend more time looking at reel specs than actually fishing. A feather lite reel that is shelled out, needs new gears after one season is a reel not worth owning.

Re: Help with ?'s on 2019 Stradic, Asian version

I was looking for line capacity of the 2500 model(it has the shallow spool) but didn't find it. Worried that I'd spool it on every cast with a spool like that. 12lb. nanofil and a crankbait and I can throw a country mile.

Help with ?'s on 2019 Stradic, Asian version

I'm chomping at the bit for a new reel and thinking that the new Stradic looks a treat. For my use of spinning reels it has always been a 2500 or 4000 that fits the bill. I use them a lot for moving baits such as inline spinners, stick baits, and crankbaits. I want to try a low gear ratio reel for s...

Best buzzbait

there seems to be a dizzying array of buzzbaits on the market now. Fishing over the weekend I see that I have buzzers from half a dozen brands, and I'd rather stick to one bait and know it well. What is your favorite?

Re: Supertuning expectations

I'm going to echo the sentiment that "supertuning" is a thing of the past. Heck, even 20 years ago you can read posts where people had reels "supertuned" and regretted ever having it done. The main thing is to keep the reels you have clean and lubed. Some factory reels I've owned or worked on for ot...

Re: gears in spinning reels

Totally dependant on if your a "pump and wind" or a "knuckle down and grind" fisherman / woman / avocado / XYZ gender? (just covering my bases)...   Thanks for the info, my reels are freshwater use and don't take the abuse of both the salt environment and also the crazy strong fish ...

gears in spinning reels

Just out of curiosity, how often do gears in spinning reels need to be replaced? I'm guessing they might last a really long time? I've got 8 spinning reels, and have cleaned them when need be, and have been wondering what are the common wear parts that need to be replaced from time to time. Other th...

Re: Tennessee grip question

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to go with amalgamated (self-stick) tape over the slip rings for now. Once I fish this for a while and see how it feels, I can always take the rings off later if I feel the need to (although they are metal so might be tough to saw off without hitting the co...

Tennessee grip question

I've got a Loomis 5'4" mag-light spin pole with Tennessee grip. Loomis sticks two black metal rings over the cork, to hold the reel in place, but I've always had trouble with them coming loose. How do you attach reels to your Tennessee grip? Thinking of trying to remove these metal "rings" and going...

Re: Fishing ole classics

Curado D is the one model of the "good ones" that I have never owned, or fished with. I know a very good fisherman who swears by the CU100D. I would love to own one someday. The sad thing is, I don't think gears are available anymore for that one. Maybe if I find one that hasn't been trashed out it'...

Difference between bail spring and bail trip lever spring Daiwa spinning reel

I'm wondering what the difference is? Reel model is RG2000XI but I'm sure it'd be the same for any daiwa spinner.

Re: Fishing ole classics

It turns out my favorite reels are Shimanos from the mid 90s up through the end of the 2000s. I do have a CH100SF, "the golden egg" just like slazmos, except she has some boat rash from fishing her in my younger years. I believe she was a display model from Gander Mountain in Roseville, a tackle sho...
