Re: Do You still Use Lures that You Bought, When You're a Kid?

As a kid, perhaps 10 years old, I loved to fish. Had no money, no boat, old basic tackle. I used to stare at the beautiful and expensive rapalas, which were out of my reach. The local fishing shop owner, all around nice guy, needed rudd as baitfish for ocean fishing. He offered me a rapala f my choi...

Re: Things You Have NEVER Tried

I have tried most techniques with varying success perhaps because I in many instances I have applied techniques developed in bass fishing to perch, pike, trout etc. The vision 110s, of which I have several, have not been a success. I have even tried them for salmon as I note they do with 110s in Sco...

Re: Thoughts on high end bfs?

Fishing and travel go well together. I fish for perch and pike, but my main interest is BFS for trout and light tackle salmon fishing. Swing by and I will show you some waters...

Re: Thoughts on high end bfs?

I agree with others, BFS reels and lines are the easiest components of the BFS system to acquire. I also find that reel and line is most important as long as the rod suits the purpose (cheap or not). Good reels and lines give me more enjoyment when BFS fishing than good rods. I have some very good B...

Re: If You Could Have ONLY One Lure for the Rest of Your Life

Mapso Ory-Grub in size 3.

Great for searun brown trout, works fantastic both up- and downstream.
Also good for many other predators and useable in lakes and salt/inshore...

Re: Aldebaran 22 and Avail spool?

I have the Gekkabijin and two 22 Aldebarans with Avail spools. I really like the Daiwa and the Shimano reel in stock form. The Avail spools help with the very light lures, but for my fishing with 3.5-7.0 gram lures stock spool does great. Excuse me, does Aldebaran22 need to add 8 magnets(4mm✖1mm) t...

Re: Bass Fishing Not Very Popular?

Bass fishing is popular. I loved fishing for bass during 3 months in North Carolina, 2013. It was great. Met many people on fishing trips and still have 1 US kayak fishing friend that I still follow on social media etc.- bass sure look popular also in 2023. Wish we had bass in Scandinavia. Sadly, we...

Re: Daiwa steez a tw 2016 spool question

I'm looking for the best spool for bait 4-18 grams, PE line 1.5 100 meters. Hello! I think you must put KKR T31M spool in your list: http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=67159&p=724027#p724027 http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=67159&start=1110#p724678 I imagine that they beha...

Re: Daiwa steez a tw 2016 spool question

Of the ones you mention, I would also go with rcs 1012.
However, I would also consider ZPI and Roro spools etc.

Re: Honest opinions...is BFS really worth trying?

I never used the stock spool, but the diy spool casts a 1/8 oz rat-l-trap as far as I'd ever need it to go. That diy spool actually holds a little more line than my 32mm Alphas sv tw stock spool, despite the alphas spool being 32mm o.d. and the diy spool being 28mm o.d. I have the SV version. The f...

Re: Brand Loyalty?

It's more brand "trust" for me, and over the years the list of brands I trust has grown and a couple have fallen off the list. Lost faith in modern Penn and Ambassadors mostly. I still have, use, and love some older stuff from both of them though. I've also picked up Quantum and Okuma spinners that...
