Re: Tict ice cube power version ?

Thanks. I’m assuming this would be more powerful that the finesse and drift? It’s rated for PE line but I would most likely run 3.3lb tectan mono. Oh yes.....the Finesse is quite a bit more powerful than the Drift. The Power is rated up to 7 gram lure rating. Should make for an interesting rod. Reg...

Re: Tict ice cube power version ?

Do any of you know if the power version of the ice cube comes with a solid tip or tubular tip? Please let me know if any of you have fished this version and have experience with it. It is a solid tip rod. I don’t own one but do own a Rockin Finesse and a Rockin Drift. Tict products impress me. The ...

Re: Question about my latest Ultra Light rod

It's the lightest rod I've ever owned. 1.8 ounces. Just gorgeous build quality. Name on the rod is Finetail Area Stage. Feels good but I have not fished it yet. I'm going to try it on Monday for my usual quarry, the sunfish, using TroutMagnets. One other interesting thing -- This Major Craft rod wa...

Re: Any recommendations lures for crappies from bank?

I fish for crappie from the bank a lot. I catch a ton of crappie using Trout Magnet. It serves me extremely well. If you don't want to use a Trout Magnet then I suggest using some sort of micro plastic. Small baits catch a lot of fish. Here is one video of me using the Trout Magnet off the bank to c...

Very nice. The Corto is a fantastic rod.....and that Ring Kick Tail can catch some fish.

Does Palomar work well?
I use the palomar to tie my leader to the jig head but the only knots I’ve used with ester is leader knots.....specifically the surgeons knot.

Re: Ester mono.

One thing I noticed about the 2.4# ester is that it will always break when I try to remove it from the the line keeper on the side of my spinning reel spools. Kind of brittle. That probably means it’s also very finicky about what knots get used and they should be tied carefully. Another thing I not...

Re: Ester mono.

How is ester line strength compare to those mono? Let’s say 2.4lb ester line vs 2-3lb mono? This is a discussion I am having with myself...and a few others right now. I catch a lot of smallmouth using an ajing rod with 2-3 pound nylon mono test line...no issues. Hooking into smallmouth using ester ...

Re: St Croix SCV panfish rods

I think the St. Croix LEP is still worth the money in certain regards. To me, that was mostly the fact that I was able to handle it in store before buying it. And it's arguably the best you can get on the USDM side of things unless you go custom. I wanted to get a new L or UL setup this spring to u...

Re: Reflection - JDM UL Rod Ratings & Going X- or S-UL.

Allsorst, I hold you in high regards as you have much experience with JDM rods - and I think you also have helped Alphahawk with rod comments in the past. Anyways, I think Fuji claims that more guides actually makes both the rod and the line less likely to break under load. Not sure where i read th...

Re: Reflection - JDM UL Rod Ratings & Going X- or S-UL.

I did a lot of testing with the Bouz drag checker on soft rods...area trout rods......mebaru rods and ajing rods. In the end as you say drag is drag...except.....when using a 2# test polyester line on an ajing rod it is going to get you into trouble real fast with a 5 pound Smallie. A 20 percent dr...

Re: Reflection - JDM UL Rod Ratings & Going X- or S-UL.

That's a lot to digest....LOL. I learned early on the lower lure rating on ajing/mebaru rods had nothing to do with casting ability of the rod to cast a lure at 1/10 of a gram. As you say it is all about feel. I did a lot of testing with the Bouz drag checker on soft rods...area trout rods......meba...

Congrats on the rod. Owning a high end Graphiteleader rod is very satisfying. It may be a while but I'm wanting another one...LOL.

Re: Crevalle (Trevally) on UL Gear

That did look like a lot of fun. I spent 21 years catching those and GT's also. As was mentioned....they will tear up some equipment. The GT's I was catching were small...40-50 pounds. Every so often I would hook a big one and the reel would be toast. This was in the Red Sea/Persian Gulf. The fishin...
