Re: Topwater popper question
Academy Sports house brand H2O Express has a 1/4oz popper that I really like. The reason I mention it is because to me it fishes bigger than a Pop X. Even though they weigh the same it has a larger profile, I can cast it further, and it has a bigger presence in the water. Caught a lot of fish on it ...

Re: MB F4.5-711 GTA/Rods for oversize cranks
Yeah, I've read the review a couple of times and he mentions throwing 1.25 or 1.5oz spoons with it, but that's a far cry from a 3.25oz crankbait. That's why I was wondering if it was the rod or just his skill level.Farnorth wrote:There is a TT review posted for that rod. Should answer some of your questions.

I like the Cavitron too. It gets up quick and I can make it stay up at slower retrieve speeds.

Tater Hog Hoochiemama/Moonshiner
Considering pulling the trigger on one or both of these, especially the Hoochiemama as we catch a lotta good fish on topwaters. Anybody have any experience with either one of em. I'd really like to hear some thoughts on em before I drop $80 for one bait.

MB F4.5-711 GTA/Rods for oversize cranks
I was reading Cal's review of the LC SKT Magnum again and I noticed he mentioned he was throwing it on his F4.5-711GTA. It didn't register the first time I read it, but this last time I realized that he was throwing a 3oz+ bait on a rod that's only rated up to 3/4oz. I'm assuming he wasn't babying i...

Double Hudd Rig
Any of you guys fishing the double Hudd rig or something similar? I don't currently own any Hudds or a rod that could handle two of em at once, but I've been throwing my own version with two swimming flukes on weighted swimbait hooks. Messed with it the last couple of times out and actually caught a...

Re: Dedicated 4" to 5" paddle tail rod
I throw my paddle tails with underspins, regular jig heads, and weighted swimbait hooks on my MB F5-69DG Chimera. I also use it for my chatterbaits with paddle tail trailers. It's an out of production rod so you'd hafta be ok with buying used and I know there are plenty of other rods out there that ...

I'd love to see a swimbait rod too. Maybe even something that could handle up to 7 or 8oz.

Re: MB X7 Simoon
Absolutely gorgeous combo! =D> Nothing beats a Stella spinning reel IMHO. For some reason I just can't get into the Stella. I know that's bordering on heresy around here, but I just can't help it. I've tried. No such luck. 'Course my ideal spinning reel is a Racing Condition. Only problem with that...

Re: BPS Johnny Morris reel
Don't know about that specific model, but I've got a buddy that fishes 4-5 days a week and he says the Johnny Morris line are good reels. He's normally a Curado guy, but he speaks well of the BPS reels.

Re: Anyone disappointed by the balance of MB rods ?
I've got three MB rods, a F6-70XX, a F5-69DG, and a F4-70GTZ, and I've never even checked the balance point on any of them. They all fish like a dream so I guess it's never occurred to me. We only get to fish one day a week, but we're usually out for 8-10hrs at a time. I've never felt like I was wor...

Re: MB X7 Simoon
I just got my Simoon and Evoluzion C40 Elseil rod from Japan and UPS charged me $101.48  You mean that's what they hit you with for custom's fees? Yeah, but the shipping charge from Megabass was only $58 so it wasn't too bad. The Simoom was $358 and C40 Elseil was $425. I also picked up a ligh...

Re: My new toy
I've gotten to fish it a handful of times now and it's absolutely killer. Not only does it look super sweet but it fishes like a dream. The best part is when my buddy and I are throwing at the same basic target and mine sails 10-15yds past his every time. Just kills him. I've got it on my Chimera an...
