Re: Best Fish
Inshore: Puppy drum, for their size I don't know what fights harder. Nearshore: Cobia, they will swim to the boat quickly sometimes not knowing they are hooked but you better not gaff unless you want to buy a new console for your boat. False albacore and bonito on light tackle or fly is a heck of a ...

That is a type of Char normally called the Eastern Brook Trout here in the US and that is a pretty nice one.

Re: Don't laugh: Best UL underspin spincast...for 7 year old
I have a Plueger underspin I use for brookie fishing and I have found nothing wrong with it. Granted small brook trout aren't the fierciest fighters in the world but fun to catch and eat. Mine is the Microspin U and it makes small fish feel BIG, very fun to fish with. Especially when a rainbow hits ...

Re: What lures to buy when trolling for Trout?
I would use leadcore, and my lure of choice is a michigan stinger or other hammered spoons in a rainbow trout color. Daredevils and and flatfish always work well too.

Cabela's sells it. I have used their brand and it is very reliable.

Re: Tackle advice for Norhtern Cal - Sierra Nevada Mountains
If i were going I would take some small inline spinners, preferably Panther Martins in an assortment of colors. Take a few Mepps Aglia, Vibrax Blue Fox and maybe a Roostertail. All of these have caught trout for me in lakes and streams. A nightcrawler and splitshot works well too.

Re: Fluorocarbon knots
I tie a uni-knot and it has been very reliable and is easy to tie. Some of these knots that people say are easy or good are just too hard to tie reliably and quickly in my opioion. Pick a good, easy knot and get good at tying it. That is why I like the uniknot.

Re: Best knot connecting braid to mono
I tie the uni to uni but sometimes I will double the braid back and tie a uni made with the loop to give it a little more surface area so it will not cut into my mono or flouro leader. I have never had that knot fail on me usually i will break the knot on the hook before the leader breaks off.

Re: Trolling-newby getting started
I troll for trout in lakes and I have had the best luck with leadcore line on an 8-8.5ft trolling rod. Tie about 30 ft. of mono leader directly to the leadcore so it can be wound on the reel. Then I tie a barrel swivel with about 10 Ft. of flourocarbon leader to the mono and tie a spoon (michigan st...

Re: Help me to pick the right Reel :)
I would recommend a Shimano TLD 20 OR 25. Not much they can't handle trolling. I have caught 60lb+ yellofin tuna on a 20. My muscles hurt but the reel handled it. They are solid reels and are right for the money. For salt water trolling I definately would not recommend any levelwind. Worm Gears and ...

I personally like Cabelas products better than BPS and I have alot of both. I think BPS stuff is of lesser quality and Cabelas stand behind their products better IMHO.

Re: Advice on buying spinning reel for trout fishing
I would reccomend the Cabela's Prodigy 2000 or 2500 (A Souped up Daiwa Capricorn) depending on amount of line needed. If you are going to be fishing some salt I would go with the 2500. The prodigy has some corrosion resistant bearing and is great for trout fishing. I use the 2000 model in Montana on...

Re: Need a new spinning reel....your opinions...under $100
Cabela's Prodigy is what I would recomend. I think thay are selling for $99. They are great reels for the money. I have three and one Shimano Stradic and they perform as well or better than the stradic.
