Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

The chinese haven't had an original idea in a century. They are great at copying things and making good designs cheap and cheaper. The kids over there fight to get into our colleges and universities because their education system is still in the dark ages. Cheap is cheap. Cheap is never better. I h...

Re: Readdressing An Old Issue -- China

The Chinese are doing two things right now to change their image. 1)They are buying up famous brand names and marketing their Chinese made products through the companies they are buying along with their established markets and reputations. And 2)The Chinese are trying to emerge with their own brand ...

Re: Why no carbon fiber drag in the Metanium ?

I appreciate your words of caution, but as I said before I will cause no harm. I am not going to hammer or grind down any of the curado parts or damage the original parts in any way. I will substitute parts from other reels and anything I do is 100% reversible if it does not work out the way I would...

Re: Why no carbon fiber drag in the Metanium ?

Bantam, a cone can not mash flat. It is made of solid steel. The reason speakers are shaped like this is to prevent cone distortion as you just described. And when you make a solid steel cone there is no way it will mash flat as you say. The weak point, the belleville washers will mash flat long bef...

Re: Why no carbon fiber drag in the Metanium ?

I wonder if the gears in the metanium are the same size as my curado i??? If so, I might remove the carbon fiber and swap over to the Dartanium II from the Metanium reels. One thing I have noticed about the new curado i is that the box it came in says there are suppose to be 3 A-RB bearings in it, b...

Re: Bearing upgrade for concept a

The ceramic hybrid bearings can be purchased on ebay from the hobbybearingstore, but they are on vacation through today and should have all their listings back up very soon. This seller is currently away until Feb 23, 2015, and is not processing orders at this time. http://www.ebay.com/sch/hobbybear...

Re: Low ratio left Curado I

Me personally, I hate when I have to turn the handle slow when using deep cranks . I would rather turn the handle a little faster and easier with a 5:1 ratio reel. Sometimes even that is too fast. So I bought one of those curado CU-201B38's which is a 3.8:1 retrieve. This is one reel I doubt I will...

Re: Re wrapping Guides

About $10.00 per guide. You might find someone who will do it for less.

When I found out how much they wanted I decided to do it myself.

Re: Curado G My Opinion

The one thing I did not like about my brand new G7 was that I could feel the gears under load. My old curado B series reels are perfectly smooth, but I was wanting a faster reel so I bought a new CU-201G7. I sold that G7 about as fast as I bought it because rough gears right out of the box is a turn...

Re: Bearing Brands... Any up and comers?

As far as I know he has them made by someone. Could be boca.... not sure. However they are quieter than my all stainless boca 7's. Hope this helps. As far as I know and understand what Boca does, they are not a bearing manufacturer. They are a distributor more than anything else and the bearings th...

Re: Favorite Discontinued Reel?

Curado 200B. Blows the zillion, ito, z, core, etc. out of the water I am huge fan of the old B series curado as well, but my focus has been mostly on the BSF models with a super free spool. It is basically the same as the 200B or 201B but has the added upgrade of the super free spool found in highe...

Re: boca orange seal and TSI 321?

I forgot to mention that if you wanted to use the solvent based 301 in a bearing that has a plastic cage, you can always put the 301 in a small container first and let it sit out until the solvent has evaporated and then transfer it to the bearing without harm.

Re: boca orange seal and TSI 321?

I would be cautious in using the 301 in all bearings because some SS ball bearings have a plastic cage rather than a steel cage inside the bearing behind the shields where you can't see it. I just had to replace some spool bearings inside a reel because the plastic cage was in pieces completely hidd...
