Re: Silver Thread AN40 versus McCoy Mean Green

I, personally, have not noticed a "stretch" problem with the Mean Green. That's not to say there isn't one; I just haven't experienced it myself. I've been fishing McCoy Mean Green for at least 20 years; and, I've been satisfied with it for the most part. But, I'm always looking for something better.

Silver Thread AN40 versus McCoy Mean Green

For those who have fished both, how does Silver Thread AN40 compare to McCoy Mean Green? I currently fish the McCoy Mean Green; however, I think I fished AN40 years, ago. I've forgotten how the AN40 fished.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Greg

Jighead Recommendation

I need a jighead recommendation for fishing Keitech 3.3 and 3.8 Swing Impact swimbaits in water up to 40' deep. I would basically be crawling them across the bottom. I think I probably need at least a 1/2 oz. and possibly 3/4 oz. head. Recommendations please. I don't have a preference of round head,...

Best Umbrella Rig

I'm going to purchase a couple of umbrella (Alabama) rigs and was wondering what everyone's preference might be. I'm particularly interested in durability.

Thanks,

Greg

Jackall Riser 007

Has anyone fished the Jackall Riser 007? If so, are you tying directly to it with braid, or using braid with a leader? What size braid and leader, if applicable?

Light Saltwater Tackle Recommendation

The family and I vacation on the Gulf of Mexico every year; and, I usually try to do a little fishing just for fun. That is, I'm not out trying to catch the night's dinner. What would you recommend for light salt water spinning tackle that can be used for fishing from the beach? I purchased one of t...

Re: Spool Overfilled? and Topshot Floro Issues

So, are knots on the spool considered problematic. I'm having problems with one of my reels, in particular. I have the knot on the spool; plus, I may have too much braid on the spool.

Daiwa Fuego 3000A Spool

I fish with Daiwa Fuego 3000A spinning reels. The bottom of the spools where the line wraps have a couple of circles engraved in them. Does anyone know; if, these are supposed to be some type of indication of a full spool? Also, how full do you fill your spinning reels? I think I've accidentally ove...

Sandals

Can anyone recommend some sandals for fishing that are soft and cushioned? I have Teva's that are several years old; and, they are not the softest foot ware. Perhaps, it's just the style I have. Recommendations would be appreciated.

Re: Old School GLX (pre 2012) vs. Today's Rods

What are the distinguishing features of the various generations of GLX rods? The latest ones I purchased have dark colored cork rings in the handles and are trimmed with blue thread work in the butt cap. I have some that don't feature this. I think all mine fall under the Classic umbrella of rods: 7...

Costa Harpoons

Does anyone wear the Costa Harpoons? Are they the larger version of the Fathoms? I have two pairs of Fathoms; and, I've experienced fogging problems with them. I think they may be too small for my face; so, I thought of moving up in size. Also, are there any premium American made (yes, made and manu...

Re: G. Loomis MBR 842 GLX

Hi Blacktail 8541. If you're using it for jerkbaits, I assume you snap the rod sideways to impart action to the jerkbait. Correct? Is that method difficult to learn? I've always snapped the rod downwards, using shorter rods. I'm 5'8"; so, I'm a bit height challenged to begin with; and, snapping down...

G. Loomis MBR 842 GLX

For those of you who have one, is the Loomis MBR 842 GLX mag bass rod a good rod for small crankbaits? Also, what other applications is it good for? Finally, is it a significantly different rod than its cousin, the MBR 782 GLX?

Thanks
