Re: Any luck with UL Rippin Raps?

Never used them. I stick to the UL Rat-L-Trap. It works. Only need 3 colors....black/gold, blue/chrome, firetiger.

Re: UL only?

Curious how many of you only fish UL tackle. As of now I only have my one UL outfit and I'm not in a rush to put together something heavier even though I have the gear. When I fish I usually only have a couple hours to spend on the water so I like to spend it catching anything that will bite and UL...

Re: New here

Picked up two more in Fire Tiger today at the local Walmart. Firetiger works very well in stained water in the South.

Re: Redbreast fun

The unusual one appears to be a hybrid, possibly redbreast and bluegill.
I've caught many that were hybrids, usually a cross between a green sunfish and practically any other sunfish.
I reckon they are opportunistic breeders! LOL
Wish the greenies got bigger, they are some scrappers.

Re: need input on kr concept spinnng setup

Looks like I need to read up a little more. I'd never heard of the KR system, so I looked it up. Looks very close to what my altered system is doing. But I have to say going to a 20 ring guide for the stripper on big reels looks to me to add a bit too much friction. Maybe a 25 would be to my liking,...

Re: microwave guides hype or not

Checking out the new technology, and these seem very cool, but i know if they were good or bad someone here would let me know the real deal. Is it just hype or are these the latest and greatest. http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building/MicroWave-Guides/TidalWave-9-Piece-Spinning-Guide-Set-NOIMW Looks fi...

Re: Crank blank help/opinions

I'm very indecisive. Looking for a 7' blank to fish lipless, squares and flats in MOSTLY open water with braid. I've tried glass and its just not for me. Too soft. I've used two mod fast sticks being a KLX and a Fenwick elite tech. Both were a little stiffer than what I'm wanting. I'm looking at tw...

Re: St. Croix SCIII blank help

Hey guys. I'm building a spinning rod. Which of the following blanks would be the best fit for the following purposes - 3/8 oz jerkbaits 4" weightless Senkos 3/16 oz. shaky heads MAYBE the occasional Shad Rap 6 and 7 3C69MLXF (casting) 6-10, 1/8 - 1/2 3S68MXF (spinning) 6-12, 3/16 - 5/8 Which is so...

Re: Old School G Loomis blanks

Hated it when they stopped selling Loomis blanks. I built many a fine rod with them, most of them I still have.
I used GL3 and IMX exclusively. My three favorites are all IMX.
Now I use St. Croix SCIII. It ain't IMX, but it serves the purpose pretty well.

Re: need input on kr concept spinnng setup

10 guides on a 7' rod is a bit much IMO also. When I do my altered versions of Fuji's concept arrangement, I have 8 guides and a tip on my 7 footers. Reduce the guide quantity by one for each 6" less in length, increase by one for every 6" addition length. Always worked very well for me. Nicely bala...

Re: Changing handles on an IMX

Cork removal is easy, grab it with some pliers and twist it…it'll break away in chunks. Scrape away the residual epoxy with a razor blade (hold it 90 degrees to the blank so it scrapes the glue and doesn't cut into the graphite…you can heat it a bit with a hair drier or heat gun…doesn't take much h...

Re: Just bought a compre 5'6 UL need reel/line help

Until now I'd never heard of a 750 size Shimano reel. Looking up the specs, it appears to be what is now called the 500. I recall the older cheaper 500 size reels had a shorter spool length, and that was about the only difference between them. To move on to the OP's question, with a shorter rod like...

Re: Snap Beans !!

I have some of the Snap Beans, and picked up some more today. Black/Silver.
The bigger one works fine, but I've found you practically have to crawl the little one to make it work right.
