Re: Welcome to TackleTour Discussion Forums!

Thank You Tackle Tour for being a Secure Website. It’s seems the others I used to frequent come up as being “ not secure” .
At least I can still come here for my ultralight fix . Gillchaser

Anybody target the Green Trout ?

Anybody Target LM Bass specifically with their Ultralight spinning tackle? My first love is gills , but when I’m having trouble catching the gills , I can usually count on the old green trout to make the trip a success . I like fishing 3” sticko’s or the front part of a trick worm and either fish it...

Daiwa Aird X 5’6” UL Spinning rod

I got my new Daiwa UL rod yesterday. It’s an Aird X 5’6” UL spinning rod. Daiwa doesn’t list it on there Aird X page , but they’re available if you search around . It’s a AIRDX56ULFS . I sometimes like a shorter rod for fishing soft plastics for LM bass . Particularly plastic worms . I fish them fro...

Re: 7'-8' Casting rod?

St Croix Tidemaster Inshore casting rod. Model TIC70LM 7' light power moderate action weighs 3.4oz, lure rating 1/8 to 3/8. I have the previous generation rod with recoil guides in a spinning rod. It's a fun rod to use for smallmouth & steelhead. Listed under saltwater rods on St Croix website. Tha...

Went old school this morning

I took Zebco Omega Z02 ultralight spincasting outfit this morning to the Town pond . I got there around 8:15 and the walkers were already out , but I was the only person fishing . The rod is a 5 1/2’ Gander Mt. pistol grip medium rod . The combo will cast a 1/32 jighead and half a trickworm or 3” BP...

Re: Cheap local BFS rod alternatives

I have a few bfs combos already, my quest is for the ideal “hiking with non-fisherman” combo. I am looking to spend the minimum amount of time between taking my pack off and making my first cast. Right now I have a telescoping rod (a Daiwa BBB) and it takes around 1min from pack drop to cast. If I ...

Re: Cheap local BFS rod alternatives

This is my cheap attempt at BFS ultralight baitcaster fishing . The rod started out as a five foot UL spinning blank I had made into a fly/spin rod which worked as a spinning rod but fell short as a flyrod ( I liked short UL flyrods at the time ) Then I got to reading about UL baitcasting and decide...

Re: New Daiwa UL rods available in USA 2018

The 7’ Daiwa Light action Procyon came in yesterday . Came in a box that was cut and out back together in the middle to adjust for length . Box looked like it’d been folded over a couple of times . Not good . Opened it up and the rod end is wrapped and box is packed full of those air bogs . Didn’t m...

Slimed my new rod this morning

I took my new 8’ Berkley Trout Rod UL to the town pond this morning. I paired it with a Daiwa Laguna 2500 , with 4# Silverthread , thinking the extra weight would balance the rod . I fished about an hour with hair and feather jigs under a float without a nibble . Although the rod performed great . W...

Re: New Daiwa UL’s for Sale in USA 2018

Here’s a quick picture of my BC rod with a Daiwa Exceler reel that casts pretty good with lighter baits . I use 6# line on the BC’s . I tried 4# but i had a issue with the thin 4# I was using getter behind the spool . Gillchaser

Re: New Daiwa UL’s for Sale in USA 2018

I’m more of a spinning tackle person , but I do own a couple baitcasters and tried the light/ultralight thing with my Daiwa Lexa . The only commercially made rod I found was a cheap fiberglass composite Daiwa Sweepfire . Not a bad little rod , but definitely nothing fancy . So, I had my custom rod b...

Re: New Daiwa UL’s for Sale in USA 2018

Sorry no links . It’s against the forum rules .
Just google “ new Daiwa Rods 2018 “ that’ll take you to Daiwa’s Page , choose freshwater and it’ll give you a list of all of the rods that are going to bre available this year . Gillchaser

New Daiwa UL rods available in USA 2018

For those of us who look for bargains in what’s easily available here in the USA . Got to searching around and found a list of the new rods expected to come out this fall . Looks like a new line of Spinmatics with a full listing of UL lengths . I’ve owned a few Spinmatics and although I liked the wa...

Re: Daiwa’s latest LT spinning reels

Got my Daiwa Exceler lt reels today. I ordered a 1000 and a 2500 . The 1000 I loaded with 4# P-Line and the spool is larger than most 1000 reels I’ve owned but I don’t think it took 250 yards to fill it . Maybe 170-180 ? Didn’t measure , I’m just guessing with how long it took to wind the line on . ...
