Re: Anyone use Nanofil w. 2lbs Fluoro/Mono leader?

I still use 2lb Nanofil for my XUL baitcasting setup. I've been using the same line for like 2 years now. I do use a leader, as the line does not like abrasion at all.

Can't say I noticed a huge difference in distance. Using a spinning reel, you would notice more distance.

Re: Comparing Original Steez to Metanium MGL, etc

I also am a Daiwa fan. Because of the current lack of selection in the Daiwa camp I went kinda nuts on buying Shimanos this summer and fall. So far I believe I made the right decision. Those mgl reels especially have a smooth effortless cast. Apparently the distance is excellent too but I’m rarely ...

Re: Comparing Original Steez to Metanium MGL, etc

Being a huge Daiwa fan, I have been warming up to Shimano reels. I got a 12 Antares for cranking. I love that reel. Soooooooo smooth and casts very far. I tied it to a jig rod last year and tried skipping with it. I really liked skipping with it. Less forgiving than SV but, the good ones skipped smo...

Re: Micro bass jig BFS rod

I use a St Croix Legend Elite 7ft Light. It's will work perfect for what you need. It's a custom rod I built.

As far as reel, there are plenty of BFS reels out there now. Alphas AIR will be a good choice.

Re: Zillion SV spools compatible with Zillion TWS Reels?

Ray's deep model is more or less sold out. Also I have been seeking for those to buy. Ray's shallow is OK, but it have low line capacity and that is not that light spool (for thinnest lines and lightest lures). 0.12 mm Spiderwire Stealh Smooth would be good line for this spool but there is not actu...

Re: Conquest Skeptic

Do you feel as if these are the best bass rods ever made. I bought a conquest a few months ago but I haven’t even held it yet. I’m waiting to get home for leave from ait. I wasn't too impressed with it. I had the 843c and got rid of it. I liked the balance and the reel seat was nice. I didn't feel ...

Re: "new Black Widow" NFC MB 736-1 (X-Ray LMX)

How did you get an Edge reel seat? And the woven grip? Did you remove it from a different rod? I'm 100% sure those parts were available from NFC at one time, but not sure if they still are. I was considering it for one of my custom rods, until I tried out a Wiebe seat on an old G. Loomis rod. I'm f...

Re: Daiwa cracking down on wholesalers/private dealers?

You would think that as long as they are selling reels, and getting paid from the vendors, that thats alls that would matter. :? Companies do that to prevent wholesalers and them folk from running small tackle shops out of business. Same with a lot of apparel. Names like The North Face have set pri...

Re: Zillion SV spools compatible with Zillion TWS Reels?

They will fit into the OG Zillion, but there is a gap around the edge of the spool. Zillion spools ae 36mm and the new Zillion SV spools are 34mm. There are spacers out there made by ZPI, but they are rare and expensive. Another option is to have spacers milled, if you know a good machinist. Last a...

Re: crank bait trebles

I recently started changing my hooks on the smaller square bills I use to a higher quality wider gapped hook but I'm still having issues losing fish from time to time. Should I go to a larger hook? I have been apprehensive about doing this because of fear of the bait losing some of it's action. Tho...

Re: Let's talk UL crankbaits ...

Although more of a Light lure, I found a small Lucky Craft on clearance at Cabelas a couple years ago. Don't remember the model but, it's pretty nice. SK Bitsy Minnow is a decent option. Readily available in many US retailers, priced well and catch fish. Rapala UL series are nice. Various colors and...

Re: Need help Daiwa Tatula all around rod (Medium)

Welcome to the forums. Do you use braid? If so, the regular taper won't be so regular. The lack of stretch in the braid will give you better hooksets with jigs and such. I take it the rod broke was the Tatula with the "megatop"? Could always get another MH unless it won't handle the weight...
