Re: BFS Fluoro vs Braid Pros and Cons

I'd go with the VARIVAS Baitfinesse X4 PE in 0.6 goh for sure.

The other spool, I would go with VARIVAS MG Fluorocarbon in 7lb.

Re: Varivas Super Trout Advance Double Cross 8 PE braid

There are some specialty PE lines, mostly in the Area series, that come in lower diameters around 6lb breaking strength. Spinning gear definitely leverages the properties of those lines more than BFS gear. The Super Trout Advance Baitfinesse X4 PE in 0.6goh has been a great all-around line for me. I...

Re: Varivas Super Trout Advance Double Cross 8 PE braid

It's pretty good stuff. The color will fade a little of course but, the line is durable for a braided line.

The sinking nature helps with line drift in current, which can affect sensitivity and hook setting.

Re: Power BFS Rod: Sierra or Rebellion?

For power BFS, I really like the Cashion Icon BFS 6'10 ML. Definitely a step up in power from the Sierra Series and gives me more confidence hooking into fish around cover.

Sierra is nice if fishing for mixed species like bass, bluegill, trout...all that.

Re: Thoughts on high end bfs?

I think diminishing returns are more prevalent with BFS rods than "normal" rods. High end rods are great and noticable such as the Megabass Triza Alleo, even though it isn't HIGH end. The most noticable thing you will notice will be the taper with high end rods. Fast actions that blend into a progre...

Re: Baitcaster Casting Video

Saito is on IG.

I think they were referring to his older videos. He definitely was casting more than 4gr in most of those videos.

He recently been promoting the G411 quite a bit so, natural he is using it more.

Re: Daiwa SS Air TW

Just put line on my new SS air TW, excited to try it out. I paired it with my evergreen phase fieldin star BFS rod. Got the reel to replace my SLX bfs after watching hobie's video and hearing him describe it as being able to effortless switch between pitching, skipping and regular casting. As the SL...

Re: 22 Aldebaran bfs vs 23 Conquest bfs

Conquest is "easier" to cast. The Aldebaran requires more braking but, both cast great. The Conquest sweet spot is around 44-55% of brakes, the Aldebaran being closed to 75-80%

Re: Shimano SLX BFS thoughts

I really like the SLX BFS for bass fishing. Casts all those ned rigs, small hard baits and all that common with finesse bass fishing. The reel struggles with really lightweight stuff but, it wasn't made to cast UL lures. It's basically the Curado BFS and Scorpion BFS for less money. Some small diffe...

Re: Casting Ned Rig rod

That Phenix Classic BFS is nice. It can lack power if you are reefing in hogs around docks and such but, great open water rod. Super fun with dink bass too

Re: Shimano says no to nylon on CC BFS and Aldebaran BFS?

I have used mono for years on spools that say "no mono". I usually use 4lb and do not put more than 50m on. I do not use a lot of pressure spooling the line on either.

Re: Which bfs reel for skipping 4” senko?

I would go with the Aldebaran, it’s the best casting BFS reel out there, just my 2 cents…. ...but not the best skipping reel. Centrifugal brakes are never as easy to skip with as a mag brake reel. Why? Not sure, tbh, just my experience. Look at Shimano's true bfs reels. They are alll magnetic braki...

Re: Which bfs reel for skipping 4” senko?

Daiwa SS AIR TW. I have been skipping weightless plastics a TON lately. Definitely catching fish I wouldn't have otherwise.

I been skipping a 1/10oz Trokar Ned jig with a 3" Zman TRD. The beefier hook help yank fish out of cover. Dobyns Sierra Series 701c with that lure combo is deadly.
