Re: Compact spinnerbait

Just reading the post. My favorite compact spinnerbait of all time is a Bush Hog manufactured by McCollums's in Alabama. The company has stopped producing the baits and may be out of business. Their 1/4 oz baits are my favorite of all. A tandem Colorado accounted for my largest bass, a 7 plus from n...

Re: Northeast Crankbait colors

I have had a good amount of success with Perch, Bluegill, and Silver- Shad patterns. Chartreuse-Black and Firetiger have never been successful for me. I only have some success with Rattlebaits in early Spring, and only in Chrome patterns. Back in the day, my favorites were Rapala Fat Rap in Silver a...

Northeast Crankbait colors

I have a question for all Northeast bass fisherman. How many different colors of all types of crankbaits do you need as opposed to the amount you carry? I fish from smaller boats an would like to downsize the amount of baits I want to carry. Other lures don't seem to be the problem, since I usually ...

Re: Rod length advantage or disadvantage?

I suppose that no matter the trend, fishing is fishing , and all of us should pursue our passion with the equipment we are most comfortable using. I began many years ago using 5'6' pistol grips thinking I was a casting aficionado. Thanks for the replies.

Rod length advantage or disadvantage?

I recently purchased two Denali Jadewood casting rods, after reading the review on this site. My dilemma is that no matter what reel I use, the 6'6" rod seems more comfortable than the 7' rod. Both are medium-heavy models, yet most anglers prefer longer rods for today's bass fishing techniques. I us...

New bent handles on casting reels

For many years casting reel handles have been straight. The trend now is to design them closer to the frame of the reel. I've read where this is an advantage in cranking. I do not have large fingers, but when reeling these type of handles, my fingers bump the handle nut making it uncomfortable. Hand...

Short casting rods

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but have many years of bass fishing under my belt. I grew up using pistol grip rods in the 70's and found them to be very comfortable in a small boat. Obviously, the modern trend is to use 7ft plus rods for most bass fishing techniques. How many fishing veterans still us...

Re: comparing shimano citicas

Thank you for your response. I like the 100dsv the best. It's almost the same as the Curado 100b with one less bearing.

comparing shimano citicas

I would like to ask if there are major differences among the various models of citica reels. - 100dsv, 200e, and 200g. Thanks

Re: New Member

My sons are adults 31 and 25. They have been fishing with me since they were three. Both were using casting reels by 10. Today they are accomplished fisherman and love to go. My older son has become quite the fly fishing enthusiast. He wants me to go with him, but knot tying tiny flies is not as eas...
