Re: New Dobyn's Series
Just to put all info on one thread here is what I posted previously . . . I just got a 753SF. First impressions were fit and finish are great. The AAAA cork is the best I have ever seen on any fishing rod. The action feels similar to my extremes, a true fast action, very crisp. The rod is perfectly ...

Re: Any info on DOBYNS XTASY?
I just got a 753SF. First impressions were fit and finish are great. The AAAA cork is the best I have ever seen on any fishing rod. The action feels similar to my extremes, a true fast action, very crisp. The rod is perfectly balanced like all Dobyns but its really light - comparing it to my Extreme...

Re: Eposeidon reels
I bought 1000yds of their braid for backing, and it's nothing I would consider fishing with. Pretty crude line.

Re: bb1 vs curado e5
I'm really surprised that people prefer the Lews over the Shimano. I've had both also and the BB1 was a decent reel but I much prefer the feel and performance of the Curados.

Re: Curado I VS Chronarch C14
If they were the same price, I would still buy the Curado I - unless my sole use for the reel was finesse applications. That said - the I handles lighter baits extremely well.
Re: curado i
I did find that going into setting the brakes with an open mind important. Set the brakes so that it works for you not by what you 'think' it should be based on other reels you've used. Yes I learned this the hard way! As far as consistency, all my new I reels are very consistent (I own 6).
Re: curado i
Yes, see my post above. It was really my own fault for taking 6 brand new reels out and fishing in 20-25mph winds with jerkbaits before spending time with them in a controlled setting to figure them out. I've fished with Curados for years and figured these wouldn't be that much different. Now that I...
Re: curado i
I wouldn't say "unsmooth", just tight. FYI all my reels (I have 6 of them) are all the same, they just required that thumb pressure be applied to the plate directly over the slide. That solved the problem for me. I'd rather have it tight than have any play, and with only 4 brakes and an external adj...

Re: What reel would you buy?
Curado I - The Tatula R is nice but more money, larger profile, and I didn't think it was as smooth as the new Curado. The feel of the new Curado is sick, I love it. I will say that it took me a little while to figure out the new brake system, but now I've got it dialed in and working great, it does...

Re: How do you set your baitcast reel?
A little bit of thumb to slow the spool at the beginning of the cast. If you set the tension too high you loose, distance, accuracy and the ability to make finesse roll casts or pitches accurately and with a soft entry.
Re: curado i
They do perform the best of any of the Curado family. But I do not like the way the side plate operates. It is very hard to get put back on. I wish they would have left that part the same as the E series! I found this to be the case as well - but if you push down on the plate with your thumb direct...
Re: curado i
Got to fish a tourney yesterday with the new I's. I have 3 7's and 3 6's. Now that I have put the time in and figured out how to best adjust this brake system for my tastes, I'm happy to report that they are performing beautifully. Was really able to zing 3/8 oz jerkbaits into a stiff headwind witho...

Re: curado i
Thanks for the replies guys - I was a little short on sleep this morning, and this was after a long 14 hour day of fishing jerkbaits in 25 mph wind and struggling with this brake system. Today I spent a few hours in the backyard with all of my new Curados playing around with the spool tension and br...
