Re: balancing rods
I've used this method to balance some of my bottom contact rods. I like how simple, cheap and effective it is plus you don't alter the rod so resale is a non-issue. I never understood trying to balance a rod by using heavier reels. If you are a "weight weenie," then just get the lightest reels and u...

Re: St. Croix legend glass or Kistler reel n feel
I have the kistler 7'2" MH and do like it for chatterbaits. I have no experience with the st croix. I use 3/8 and 1/2 z man's.

Re: Daiwa T3 value
I don't care what anyone says. With a G1 1012SV spool, this reel is incredible for finesse to power finesse applications. Anyone who bought this reel expecting to use it for heavy resistance baits and horsing big fish out from cover was dumb in the 1st place. Still can't wrap my head around why Dai...

Re: Daiwa T3 value
In 6/10 condition, you might get $60 for the ballistic and $90 for the 1016. It's a shame because I really like my T3mx, but it's definitely a buyer's market on this platform.

I picked up a kistler helium 3 ML as well. Love it.

I like the x rap 8 which I think is 1/4. One of my favorite smallie lures. Not sure about the smaller ones.

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?
I just ordered the 522 sul casting rod. I have zero experience with rods this light, but I'm looking forward to trying my hand at some stocked trout in local streams this spring. I'm thinking about throwing inline spinners, pins minnows, 1/16 spoons and trout magnets. I'll pair it with either a pizy...

Re: ultra light casting rod?
Personally I don’t really like slow rods for accurate casting, or at least I don’t cast as accurately, but that may br personal preference. I also haven’t casted that rod. The Teton 5’2” is more of a progressive action rod, I have easily cast spoons and spinners and plugs down to 1.5 gr. I’ve used ...

Re: SS SV plus Zpi Nrc001-m
I have the spool, but not the reel. It makes sense that it would work well due to the speed of the spool and more aggressive braking of the reel. That spool was way too fast for my og steez. It was fantastic in my T3MX. Did you try it in a TDZ yet?

Re: SHIMANO OR KISTLER
I've never fished the expride, but I do own klx, helium 3 and z bones. IMO the helium 3 and klx are some of the best rods for the money. The klx are more ideal for reaction baits with it's moderate fast tapers and the helium 3's are fantastic for bottom contact. Kistler rods don't have the bling but...

I keep mine. When I buy a used reel while not a deal breaker, having the box is a nice touch.
