Re: Best buzzbait

My go-to the past two seasons has been a Revenge Baits buzzbait. Cavitron is next in line. For years I had a local guy that built some sweet buzzers, but no more to be had.

Re: How many rods/reels do you actually use

I keep 11-12 combos in the boat most the time. Usually 9-10 baitcasters, and two spinning combos rigged for crappie. Always rig 5-6 BC setups to start the day, and rig the others as needed if I’m trying a different technique, or find crappie that’ll bite. But, primarily I love to bass fish. The weat...

Re: 2019 Best Buy

Best Buy I found was St. Croix Avid rods on sale for $126.00 (reg. $210.00). They still have some models on sale at that price.

I bought a couple more Crankbait rods. Exceptional rods at their price point.

Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?

St. Croix Rage MLXF with a Pfleuger Supreme reel. Very versatile for lures from 1/8 - 1/2 ounce. Anything from Crappie Jigs up to 07 size Shad Raps.
Just picked up a St. Croix Legend Extreme 7’ LF for smaller Crappie Jigs down to 1/16 ounce. Going to be a good one I believe.

Re: What up with the ugly rods?

People like what they like. Personally, I like the St. Croix Legend series rods. Color, handle, and all. All I own are Legend Torunaments and Avids. Both great looking, top quality rods. I’ll pull the trigger on a couple of Legend Elites in the near future. And they’re made in the USA. To each his o...

Re: Is there a better choice for me then sunline natural

I can’t say I’ve ever had a single issue with Sunline Super Natural crimping on me. Best mono I’ve ever used, and I get away with using Line that’s 2 sizes larger than the Trilene XL it replaced.
I will have to try Defier in the future since it comes highly recommended.

St. Croix LTB Sweeper Spinnerbait rod 7’ MH Modified Fast action with a Lew’s Super Duty 8.0:1 Reel spooled with 20# Sunline Super Natural mono. Same rod I throw buzzbaits and big spinnerbaits on.
You can throw them out of sight with that setup.

Re: Big move in the bass boat world.

Correct Craft bought BassCat. I haven't seen any negatives to the move so far. Rick Pierce is still in charge of day-to-day operations to my knowledge. And now the BassCat brand can live on for many years. The Pierce family built one of the best brands of bass boats in existence. I don't know why Co...

Re: Best line for crankbaits??

16# Sunline Sniper on shallow cranks (6' or less) and squarebills.
12# Sunline Sniper on cranks deeper than 6'.
I fish around alot of grass, pads, and stumps when fishing shallow cranks and SBs.
Sniper is easy casting with excellent abrasion resistance and knot strength.

Re: Best line for crankbaits??

Sunline Sniper is all I use for cranks of all sizes and depth ranges. 17# for squarebills, and shallow runners down to 6'. Mainly because I fish them around 12# or 14# for all cranks that run deeper than 6'. Sniper is small diameter compared to like sized mono. 17# throws like 12#. Excellent limpnes...

St. Croix Legend Tournament 7' MH Mod. Fast rod. Labeled "Sweeper Spinnerbait", but works well for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits, swim jigs, and squarebill crankbaits. The Mod. Fast action should work well for frogs, flipping jigs, and throwing Texas rigs. It's the one rod I think...

Re: Is anyone else dissapointed in Icast '17?

The new St.Croix Legend X rods. Can't wait to get my hands on one. The new 8'+ Legend Tournament rods are interesting, but they were introduced at the Classic. Several new Abu Garcia Revo Gen 4 reels. I'll be ordering a couple if I don't load up on the Gen 3 STXs and Premiers on sale. Only a few new...

Re: rod suggestions

I recently picked up a new St. Croix Legend Tournament Sweeper Spinnerbait rod. 7'0" MHMF rod that I bought for buzzbaits and bladed jigs. I threw swim jigs with it this week. Add them to the list of lures this rod excels at throwing. The modified fast tip let's you throw all 3 lures much farther th...

Re: Who regularly throws small 3/16-1/4 spinnerbaits?

I throw 1/4 oz spinnerbaits the majority of the time. Primarily a Booyah Silver Shad with a Culprit worm trailer (tail section only).
They catch fish in all types of cover, and in open water.
