I’ve used a few things over the years. The YakAttack Blackpak is the best out there. It holds six rod comfortably.

Did you purchase the additional rod holders? I’ve only seen the black pack come with 3. Thanks!

Re: New Curado 70 mgl K

Being a big fan of the original 70, I’m looking forward to this iteration. Color is opinion, I happen to like this scheme. I’m happy to see Shimano offering the K in a 70 size with the aforementioned upgrades. It's not a 70 sized K. It's not a new platform. It's the old 70 with MM gears and Curado ...

Re: A Lesson Worth Sharing

Reels can be shipped for a reasonable cost. Rods do tend to cost a bit more to ship just due to the length and materials needed (PVC offers the best protection). I too condensed my lineup recently. I accepted the fact that I’d be taking a cash loss in exchange for gaining combos that I would enjoy u...

Kayak Box

What, in y’all’s opinion, is the best “box” for kayak fishing? I want one that offers ample storage in combination with the ability to hold up to 5 combos. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Re: New kayaks!!

NRS Chinook is super comfortable and has a high back that won’t interfere with the seat at all. Good front storage for tools as well.

Re: Foregrip or no foregrip?

I dread the threads. If I see them on a rod I’m out. Foregrip minimal at most, and only to cover threads. I too like touching the blank for bottom contact lures.

Re: Shorter rods and kayak fishing

I’ve done both, 7’2” is now my preferred length. I fish mostly small lakes though out of a 13.5 foot yak. If I were to fish more rivers I would shorten to 6’8-7’ to help avoid overhanging branches and snags. Personal preference in my opinion but there are advantages of shorter rods in some situation...

What’s the balance point with a reel and without a reel? Does it feel like it wants to be neutral, slightly tip up or tip down?

Re: Looking for a Frogging Rod

I love the 1st gen Orochi XX Perfect Pitch for frogs. May have already been mentioned here but the tip is excellent and there’s plenty of power to spare to drive hooks home and horse quality fish to the boat, kayak, or bank.
