Re: A Collaboration Between Two of Japan's Finest, Ito & Imae - The IxI Shad
Cool review and intriguing little bait! Any comparisons to its bigger/older brother, the diving flapslap?

Re: Oval Shimano handle knob cap removal?
Thank you both! To be sure, is it prying it from the center tube? And is it an insert/twist or brute force deal?

Oval Shimano handle knob cap removal?
Howdy, all my reels have traditional circle caps with the hole but seemingly these newer reels have oval caps without a hole. Are there instructions on how to remove these anywhere without scuffing them up? Hoping to swap some bushings for bearings..

Re: anther core?
$1,889.99 Cdn. plus tax. Edit: Thought I'd stress that I'm joking. Wouldn't be that much of a stretch given that Calais and Chronarch B sell at BPS up here for $589.99 and $399.99 respectively before the additioanl 14% in sales taxes. Yer right, it is a joke. Could have a reel ordered from the U.S ...

Non-white-coloured Stradic! Madness!
Bantam, it safe to assume there's no lefty core for at least the time being? And any chance you can post them additional pics of the Cumara? Thanks!

a big THANK YOU to Bantam1, Shimano, and TT
Here's the story: I've been looking for a Calais 201 handle for some time. Being a Canadian, I contacted my nearest authorized Shimano warranty center to see how much a new handle would cost me. $90! Youch. Given that I only need the actual handle and not the knobs/bearings, that's more than it'd co...

Re: handle backplay
The backplay ppl refer to is if you hold down the spool of your shimano reel and try to move yer handle backwards, it'll have a little bit of play to it. The same is not evident in Daiwa reels. Really, I have to purposely look for it to notice it and have never found it to be a factor on the water.

Re: Shimano Quality difference between USA/Japan
doh, meant a. mixing up my darn alphabet.
like iangler alludes too, i'd think that in the high-end market, there would be a more even (but likely still not equal) distribution of users between left and right. the model that works for a citica, wouldn't necessarily be applicable to a calais.

Re: Calais 100a Clutch Not Re-engaging?
Woot, just got home and tried giving it a gentle shake to simulate the tapping you suggested and it seemed to pop back into place. And there i'd been previously debating opening it up myself. Thanks again for your help bantam!

Re: Shimano Quality difference between USA/Japan
I'd trade 25 of those (save the lefty chronarch b) for a calais 101b .
