Re: Shimano Metanium MGL vs Chronarch MGL

I have several Met mgl's, only have had one Chronarch mgl. Can't say I felt it was any smoother than the Met. I always take new reels apart and clean/relube, but I didn't with the Chronarch. So that may play a role as well.

Re: Cranking rod or M or MH fast rod for throwing Topwater

For what you're wanting to throw, a m/h xf would would be my choice. I use a NRX 853 for poppers and walking baits works great, you could also look at the NRX 854.

Re: Met MGL

The JDM model DOES have a noticeably smaller spool than the US version. Unless you're putting on 25lb mono and throwing as far as you can, I wouldn't concern myself with "spooling" the reel. I have a few of each, besides spool size, there is no difference.

Re: Shimano Curado 200K is available for preorder now

When I was at a local shop a couple weeks ago, they had five for sale. I just called, and was told, about 50 were sent out to dealers, all 5 sold in about three hours =D> If they had a PG model, I would have made a purchase.

I handled one last week, if you close your eyes, you can't tell it's a Curado, very smooth, and looks great!

Re: One rod to crank them all...

Can't go wrong with a Dobyns CB rod, depending on length you like, anything in 4 or 5 power should work fine.

I know I shouldn't be saying this  but I really like the removable side plate, just makes servicing easier for me, just remember to attach the side plate correctly

Re: Metanium MGL side plate

I actually called them as soon as I got home. Was quickly told "you didn't have it attached correctly" a new one is $120 plus ship nuts Pretty piss poor service for someone who probably dropped $420 on a reel. I cannot believe they cost that much and you at least weren't offered some kind of discou...

Metanium MGL side plate

Mine flew off this morning right into the lake, obviously I didn't have it attached too well :x part # BNT5436 I figured before I order from Shimano I'd ask here if there's an alternate option, thanks

I would get something a little faster so you can get them out of cover quicker.
