Re: Orochi XX are all guides the same on casting models

Its the reason I sold my Perfect Pitch. I couldnt pitch 65lb braid and 17lb flouro leader with an alberto knot through those guides. Its a drag because I absolutely loved the rod. I wish mfgs would give the option of micros or standard.

Ci4 Has the traditional, non-coned line guide.

Re: small jerkbaits

The Duo Rozanthe is the bait I was going to mention. I have a few of them, they all dart very well, but all were slow floaters for me. I changed to hooks to the same size owners, which were a heavier wire, and they suspend very well for me now.

Re: Whats your favorite All Purpose rod

For the way I fish, my DX744 is my favorite all purpose rod. I can throw T-Rigs, C-Rigs, 3/8ox jigs, 3/8oz spinnerbaits and a frog if I had to. If theyre not biting any of that, I wouldnt get em if I had 12 rods with me...

Re: Rain Gear for Warm Months

Im in Houston, so I get not wanting to be too hot in summer. I use Frog Togs, but not the $25 set. It was a step up in price, I think I paid $60 for the set, and it keeps me dry and not too hot. I have a great cool weather rain suit, so I was specifically looking for warm weather rain protection. Iv...

Re: Kietech 4" Swing Impact

Falcon Lures makes a belly weighted hook on a gammy 2/0 ewg hook in 1/16 oz weight It is PERFECT for the 4" swing impacts. TW stocks them. I fish them on 6 or 8 lb flouro and spinning gear. Great baits.

Re: Orochi XX Perfect Pitch vs DX745....

I need to update this I guess. I put a Curado 200 IHG on this rod with 65lb smackdown, and went to a local tank to throw frogs with it. I will be keeping it, but not for the application I had purchased it for. It is an absolutely fantastic frog rod! I understand it may be a little ovekill for a frog...

Re: Orochi XX Perfect Pitch vs DX745....

Ill probably be selling my perfect pitch, or attempting to trade for a DX. The guides are not conducive to pitching with an alberto knot. Other than the micro guides (and they are micro guides regardless of what terminology people use to describe them) its a very nice rod. I would consider more if t...

Re: Orochi XX Perfect Pitch vs DX745....

Aesthetically Im very pleased with the rod. Ive pitched a few times in the yard and an alberto knot with 20lb flouro moves through the smaller guides with zero issues. Rod balances well with a CU50E.

Cant wait to get it on the water Monday.

Re: Orochi XX Perfect Pitch vs DX745....

Yeah, I think Ill be calling TTT here in a couple weeks about that perfect pitch. Im really intrigued by the specs, and even its ballpark sensitivity wise with the DX Ill be happy with it.

Thanks for all the responses. With 8 Dobyns, one MB wont hurt.

Re: Orochi XX Perfect Pitch vs DX745....

I wasnt aware the XX rods had micro guides. I fish braid with flouro leaders and alberto knots. That doesnt work really well with micros usually, do either of you guys with the xx rods fish that set up and how does it pitch? . I wish I could handle one and see the guide diameter. I do like the specs...

Re: Orochi XX Perfect Pitch vs DX745....

If I do go Dobyns, itll probably be another DX745 like I say in the op. I was really looking for comparisons between the Orochi PP and the 745.

I love my 745, but dig the specs and looks of the PP.
