Re: St Pete Beach, Fl, June

I used to recommend Capt Gary Burch for inshore but it looks like he may have retired. I moved away a few years ago and now I cant find any current info on him but he is a great. I also highly recommend Neil Taylor if you are willing to kayak, he taught be a ton over the years living there about ins...

Re: Prescription Sunglasses?

I have used the wiley x and the costas back to back in the same conditions and I believe that the glass costas work better than the plastic wiley X glasses. When I say they work better, on a sunny day I could switch glasses and MORE of a grassline was visible with the Costas. Maybe it came down to t...

Re: Prescription Sunglasses?

I have costa and wiley x prescription glasses I like both. I prefer the wileys as I like having the foam inserts that block the side light but I think the costas work better. I get a new pair every two years as thats what my insurance allows. I dont need prescription lenss but asked my eye doctor to...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

I can understand a $50 price jump on things, but still cant wrap my head around the 100-200 dollar up charge for buying the same reel in the US vs direct from Japan. Customs and tax difference. US importer has to pay, but you may get away with it. If US customs were more strict (as in most of EU), ...

Re: Shimano Tranx 300/301 or Daiwa Lexa 300HD or Lexa Winn 300?

I am trying the tranx 400 this year for the first time so I can't report on how well they last etc. I have used the 500 sized in the past and there is no denying its a tank but it doesnt seem like the new smaller tranx share much beyond the name with the 500 sized reel. As a muskie and big bait slin...

Re: Megabass F5-72X Daemos

I use mine with a steez a. It used completely for spinnerbaits, swimjigs and swimbaits under 6 inches. I think it would load up nice for light t rigs etc but I end using my emtf for those duties. I have really fell in love with the rod for 4-5 inch swimbaits in the grass.

Re: What reel for frogging on a MB perfect pitch?

I have a Zillion SV TW XXH the JDM 9 speed version. You can find them on the auction site for cheaper than the USDM models sell for on most sites. I am able to throw small jackal frogs all the way up to oversized frogs with ease and have had no issues pulling in fish through the slop.

Re: Biospawn

I started using them last year. Suprised how durable they are with the exo stick especially. I had several days where the exo stick out fished a senko, on a lake where senkos are thrown a TON. Had some great days on the exo swim also just on a jig head where my partner fished a spinnerbait. I will b...

Re: Time to Spool Them Up and String Them Out... Which Reel Is Best (part two)?

Can you post the IPT of each reel side by side? Obviously it changes a bit at the beginning of a cast but I have noticed quite a large difference of IPT when comparing gear ratios. Sometimes it feels harder or easier to move a bait but you may be moving a larger amount of line due to IPT.

Re: Deep Cranking Rod

I run a megabass launcher. Perfect for UP to a 8xd. I dont like it for 10xds at all but it works in a pinch. I mostly throw dd22, 6xd and 8xd on it. No issues throwing it all day and I have caught several 30"+ muskies the last few seasons on it while deep cranking for bass.

Re: Cranking Reel

New version of the ryoga 1016. If I could find a 6 speed z2020 I might try that as mys 7 speed BOMBS lures, I can dump the spool with a 3/4 oz rattle bait.
