You could get get a 12 Aldebaran BFS XG and have a reel with 8.0:1 gears and plenty of line capacity for a Pop Max. It looks like our beloved 09 Aldebaran and XT1000 except it’s a tad smaller.

Re: 2019 wishes

I wish that ZPI would start making BFS parts for the newer Aldebarans.

Re: If I need new BFS reel?

I’ve started spooling much less line on my BFS reels than I used to. Back in the day, I filled them up to the rim. Now, I spool around 35 yards of line on them. Basically about 105 to 110 feet of line. I’m wasting much less line and I’m casting lighter weight lures easier.

Re: If I need new BFS reel?

I think the stock 12 Aldebaran BFS can handle 1/8oz fine. Bearings make it better and of course a spool is the best upgrade. After buying the reel and a spool, may as well buy a Scorpion BFS or another new BFS reel. Ive always been tempted by the Avail trout spool for the 12 Aldebaran BFS. The OG s...

Re: If I need new BFS reel?

For you guys that like the 12 Aldebaran BFS XG platform, a KTF or an Avail ALD1224 with the magnetic brakes will put the OG spool to shame in performance. The OG spool holds the same amount of line as the 32mm Yumeya and that is one of the things that it has going against it.

Re: If I need new BFS reel?

I had the 32 mm Yumeya bfs spool in my Scorpion XT1001 - once upon a time. Though it was superb. Broadend my horizons and have stuck with Daiwa platforms with various spools. Recently acquired an Aldebaran Mg7 and another Yumeya spool. Was left underwhelmed, so my last Shimano has been sold. I can'...

Took me about 30 seconds to work that out in my head but your right. LOL

Re: General Questions

Another set of "general" questions, just think it's nice to have a thread for multiple quick answers than create an entire one for a question. A few random questions are: How do the Abu BFS reels compare do Daiwa/Shimano? I have heard that the Abu's are junk compared to Shimano and Daiwa ...

Re: Some nice baits

You should check out a Cabelas review of the Pop Max. It looks like you have a Pop X but one of the complaints about the Black Orochi Pop Max is........

"I ordered one of these in Black Orichi and there is a yellow /green stain on the back and half way down one side."

Re: Considering adding a second and looking at BFS...

After reading through the forum figured I should join in. Currently fishing a TenRyu Spectra with Shimano Cardiff CI4+ 1000SHG with JDM Spoons and UL Cranks from Daiwa and Smith. Thinking of adding a BFS setup to the mix and looking at the TenRyu Rayz 5’3” UL and the Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom....

You should be ok with that for small stream fishing.

Re: Who is using BFS casting gear for trout/panfish

Thanks everyone. I was thinking of BFS for the west coast trout chasing enthusiasts who use 1/32 minijigs. Will keep my eye out for anyone who may fish using that technique....:) Check out Kevin Bridge on Instagram. He's West Coast (Cali) and he has some some very High End JDM Fenwicks and KTF 16 A...
