Re: What do i "need"
The Javelin is an extremely versatile rod in the new Destroyer line up. That'd get my vote.

Re: Spiral x technology
I'm guessing it's some part legitimate rod blank technology and some part marketing hype. Daiwa (X-45), Megabass (XX-4-axis carbon wrap from butt to mid-section maximizes structural integrity), and several other manufacturers employs some variation in several of their rods, so there's likely somethi...

Re: Pitching reel
Pick up the Exsence DC (previous model). Still available on JDM websites and eBay for around 3 bills. Built like a tank, 8.0:1, and DC braking = winner.

Re: Shimano Metanium MG7 in saltwater
I've known of several guys who fish the Metanium, Aldebaran & Cores in the salt without issues. The Metanium has aluminum gears that some consider inferior to brass under heavy use. The brass Core gears are interchangeable with the Metanium MG/MG7:

I completely agree with these statements. I've had nothing but positive experiences with JLS and surprisingly quick shipping times.Jrob wrote:One of my favorite shops to order from.

Re: Curado 70XG first... And second impressions
Since heavy rains kept me off the water, I removed the factory bearing and installed a pair of new Boca's in each knob this weekend. I was shocked at the amount of grease that was squeezed into the knobs from the factory.

Re: Curado 70XG first... And second impressions
I had 3-SV spooled reels, 2-Alphas SV's and 1-SSSV. Once I got the braking figured out on the 70HG (mines the Scorpion), it has outcast the SV reels for me.Hennessy wrote:Claims that this reel can cast just as good as the metanium is interesting. Can anyone compare distance of the 70i to a daiwa sv spool reel?

Re: Curado 70XG first... And second impressions
Thanks for the info guys. Are you getting more distance with the 70 vs. 50E? I imagine the 70 is also smoother than 50E? It took me some time to get used to the braking on the 70HG, but yes I do get better distance than I did with the 50E. I've turned all 4 brakes on on the 70HG and use 2 brakes on...

Re: Curado 70XG first... And second impressions
How do you guys like it compared to the 50e? It had some big shoes to fill but I think it does it quite well. Palms a little better, a little lighter, more gear options, and the brakes are more adjustable. It's more of an evolutionary step forward instead of a revolutionary change. I agree w/Bootyt...

Re: Curado E vs Curado I
I was surprised to read on Facebook that the I does not appear to hold up to heavy fishing compared to the E. This video should squash all the bs about the I not holding up to heavy fishing or "stripped gears" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfcBo8JqWwU Lake Fork Guy...........Yes! That's awesome! ...
