upcoming trip

Been out of the loop for a bit now, weird how kiddos don't allow for much fishing, but I still check out TT regularly. So what better place to ask for some general recommendations for an upcoming trip? I've booked a trip to Hackberry, Louisiana for redfish and speckled trout in October. They have be...

SLX rods

Been out of the loop for a while, weird how babies occupy all of your free time, but I still stalk all the jdm sites regularly and TT. Any who, just wanted to get some feedback on the Shimano SLX casting line. One of my local shops is running a special of 3 for $100 and figure it might be a good opp...

Re: Your Confidence Lure

Nothing special over here. As much as I love a topwater bite, my go-to will always a worm in june bug. I don't even have a preferred worm, just gotta be in june bug.

Re: Samurai tackle

Samurai is legit, they have a tendency to have some harder to find lures, but they are usually higher priced than some of the other JDM sites.

Re: 3rd Place Manufacturer?

I've always been a sucker for Plueger's spinning reels, the President was my first "nice" reel. Like others have said, I'd probably go with Abu due to their JDM selection of casting reels.

Re: Megabass levante discontinued?

Hey M Perry is there any chance that the 4 piece travel models will be making a comeback?

Re: Dobyns BFS rods

Cool to see a US company stepping into the BFS game at a fair price to boot! Hopefully it's a success for them and we'll see some 2 piece models or even a couple under 7'. What kind of lengths would you like to see? Would like to see something in the range of 5'9 - 6'7. Obviously bfs can be used on...

Re: Perch, perch, perch!

A while back, before I discovered high end gear, we found a honey hole for perch. The old man kept his cruiser at a slip with deeper water than most of the marinas around the lake. We'd of course try our luck for bass from the docks and at night we'd take a sixer along with some chicken livers dropp...

Re: Plastics that are discontinued

Since we're dredging up old posts, mine is the Megabass Bumpee worm. Fortunately they were made with an Elaztech-like material so they hold up well, but my favorite color is not easy to come by. Caught a PB on them and they usually come through when nothing else will.

SPRO Freestyle

Just came across their page on the Gram and I'm intrigued. Their website has an option for English & German languages so I'm wondering if this is a German/ European division of the SPRO company that's based out of Kennesaw, GA. They seem to be geared towards UL/ BFS fishing in the city. Doesn't seem...

Re: Sandals

As others have said you can't go wrong with Olukai if you don't mind switching to flip flops. Kinda pricey, but even the low end model have a nice eva footbed that holds up well, the straps/ thong stay in place, and they have a fair amount of tread on the bottom for when you're walking the banks. I'...

Re: Catfishing

Just wanting to test the local river for them... I caught a big flat head on accident (jig) that permanently scarred my thumb, so I know they are there. Just do not know where to start fishing for them. I would maybe like to build one nice setup for catfishing, wish so bad I had bought one of those...

Re: Catfishing

A chair, sixer of your favorite beer, chicken liver, and a cheap Ugly Stick combo will get the job done. Oh don't forget a good buddy for company. What kind of cats are you going after? My lake has channel cats so the above suggestion will get you by just fine. If you're looking to seriously target ...

Are we sure this is legit? This looks like a knockoff you'd find on AliExpress.
