Re: NRX casting rods for inshore?

one of the reasons I was considering the the GLX is because I was looking at the 892c. are the rods really so stiff that the 892c wouldn't be able to throw a 1/4oz bait?? It's a Medium powered fast action rod with a good tip, so I would think it could throw 1/4oz twitchbaits and shrimp pretty easil...

Re: NRX casting rods for inshore?

843 for 3/8-1oz Really? I've got an NRX 843 and never thought it could go up to 1oz, I think it's rated to 5/8oz if I recall correctly. Yes. I throw 1/2oz and 3/4oz D&M Piranhas on 843's and they are way heavier than the stated weight. 1/2oz with trailer is 25g I believe, and 3/4 with trailer i...

Re: NRX casting rods for inshore?

For plastics, I'd stick with NRX, specifically 852c or 893c. I keep forgetting they discontinued MBR series in NRX, so would move to Conquest or GLX for my treble baits and get either 842c, 843c or 892c(fast actions) depending on length. 842 Conquest is one of my favorites, and those MBR tapers can ...

Re: NRX casting rods for inshore?

Not sure why a guide that was marketed as a "tough" guide you can bend and not break, break! That's the only issue I've had with my NRX rods, but only a couple so figure bad batch of guides. I can see the leader thing being an issue for sure.

Re: NRX casting rods for inshore?

right on man! I haven't bought anything that relates to the NRX in quality before, so i wanted to see what rod powers suited specks and reds the best before i made the wrong choice. I appreciate the info, buddy! No problem at all. Really depends on where you are fishing as far as what power to get....

Re: NRX casting rods for inshore?

Been using NRX 842c and 843c in the salt for several years. Posted lots of info and pics on this forum of fish caught on these setups. 842 basically handles all lures 3/8oz and below, and 843 for 3/8-1oz. Topwater, jerkbaits, twitchbaits, jigs, flukes, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits, frogs; e...

Re: 2018 Curado DC (Merged Topic)

I just saw a spool weight figure for this reel for the first time, and it's a shocker: 20.6 grams! If that is accurate, it would suggest that many other reels might be able to outcast this with lures weighing less than 3/8 oz. (I wrote "suggest" because I recognize that there are other fa...

Re: Rewarpping a manufatured rod with spiral guides

I haven't gone spiral wrap yet, agree with Scooby that there is no need with the fishing we do. I have re-wrapped most of my NRX rods with SIC or Torzite though. Much smaller stripper guides and all single foot guides(stripper is double) and it makes the rods really come alive. Says the guy who has...

Re: Chronarch 150G vs Met MGL and Chronarch 150G in saltwater...

Chronarch G has been holding up great. Havent had any of the spool problems of the CI4 and the rest of the reel is very corrosion resistant so no worries there. The key to keeping the Metanium going in the salt is to clean and relube once a month with proper corrosion resistant grease. Ive been usin...
