Re: Conquest Skeptic

For sale posts aren’t a very good way to determine who’s happy with their Conquest rods. If that was the case those Megabass rods must be junk with as many of those that are for sale on here. For me, it took a little while to figure out what I liked and didn’t like in both the NRX and Conquest lines...

Weight Transfer System Stuck

I’ve got a number of lures with this reoccurring problem, including topwaters, jerkbaits and crankbaits. The rattle/ball slides to the back and gets stuck which messes up the lure action. Only happens this time of year, and I think it has something to do with the difference in air vs water temp. Any...

Re: Gear replacements

Good topics man =D> It’s very rare for me to need to swap out a gear set. Only time I’ve had to swap them out because of failure was the Metanium gears corroding away. Last set looked good when they were changed to brass, but the first set disintigrated and I had never seen that happen before. Also ...

Re: Anti Reverse Bearings

Most of the reels I service around here are used in the salt, and the ARB is always a problem. 90% of the time people think they have a gear issue, it’s the ARB or a frame bearing that has rusted slightly. Once I use TSI 321 on them, no more problems.

Re: Best Baitcasting Reels for both Salt- and Freshwater Fishing

Every freshwater reel from the top 2 companies (Daiwa and Shimano) will work well in the salt with the proper lubricants. Beyond that it’s all up to personal preference. Every fishery is different so it’s tough to break it all down and decide on one as the best. Curado K and Tatula would be good cho...

Re: 15 Aldebaran/MGL gear swap with 16 Aldebaran BFS

No idea if gears will fit as far as size, but to answer the drag clicker part of the question, it’s simply a hole drilled through the gear for a plastic piece to fit through that holds the clicker and spring. Recently did this with a Stile swapping for brass Curado 70 gears. Easy enough. The keyed w...

Re: chronarch MG 50 swept handles

The handles will rub the drag star on the Core 100. I milled them down to clear the handle and retouched with a cold blue pen to turn them back again. Interesting, been a while since owning that reel but don’t remember having a problem with it. I’ll take your word for it though. Nice mod, haven’t h...

Re: chronarch MG 50 swept handles

PM DavidSA. I believe he added Metanium XG handles to his Ch 50mg’s. Ive installed on Cu 50e and 200e, Alde 50mg, Core 100 and haven’t had any issues with these swept handle swaps not clearing the drag star. Drag star barely touches handle, but not enough to scratch paint, and is still fully adjusta...

Re: 4 Techs, 3 Countries of Origin, 2 Price Points, One Goal - TT's 2018 Low Profile Baitcaster Shootout (part 1)

I want to see you guys set the drags to those stated numbers and try to crank through that pressure. Bet those reels don’t last long. Those numbers are pure marketing. Never needed more than 10lbs of pressure, and we all know those drag numbers are ridiculous in a low profile baitcaster.

Re: what swim bait head are you using?

Owners come with 3/0 hook. The reason I didn't mention them they have a weak flexible hook. The Trokar hook is much stronger doesn't flex and is sharper. Also prefer the Trokar shorter shank that allows a bit more body wiggle movement. Weak hook on an inshore jighead? That hasn’t been my experience...

Re: Break offs

Never had an issue with Shooter, but have had mystery breakoffs on every fluoro line Seaguar makes. Shooter is all I buy anymore and also works great for leaders since it’s the toughest line available. Just have to get used to it’s stiffness if you are spooling it on a reel. I only spool up 50yds at...

Doing some cranking on the river the other day, and stuck this monster. I was cranking a RC 2.5DD through a creek mouth that meets the river when it got crushed! Always love these giant surprises! Caught on a 7’H Cumara and Stile SS PG. https://i.postimg.cc/Rqr06CY0/CA90_D6_D6-22_D4-4238-8_EF3-25_C...
